Free Cinema Tickets - Discussion thread

I am just back from seeing confessions of a shopaholic at the O2 in Greenwich which my friend and I really enjoyed!
I was however really dissappointed by the attendance, the cinema was less than half full.
Should people really be applying for tickets and then not bother to show up just because they were free, when someone else could have used them instead, it really makes me mad!!0 -
SHOPAHOLIC
Firstly the screening was full, or at least it appeared to be. A few people (3 or 4 couples) came in after it had started (in the first 5 to 7 minutes) and found odd seats (some asked others to shuffle down in a row to make 2 odd seats into a pair together) very annoying I must say.
Then another couple came in about 15 minutes into the film, wandered about for 2 or 3 minutes, couldn't find seats and so left.
This scenario was repeated a second time a good 25 minutes after the film had started, except this time it was a group of at least 6, maybe 8, that wandered aimlessly up and down the stairs for a few minutes before leaving.
WHAT PLANET ARE THEY FROM ???
Anyway, 2 titters and 1 chuckle in 105 minutes makes it a very very poor movie.
Not a comedy, not even a romcom, there's no real story or plot, little to keep you engaged.
3 or 4 people left after about 1 hour into the film.
Very disappointed. Might appeal a little more to some teenage females but can't see it becoming a success by any stretch of the imagination.
AVOID ! 3/10
I wish I'd not bothered, especially since someone kicked a dent into the front wing of my car whilst parked - footprint and all

great in gateshead, posh seats0

Shopaholic - obviously a film that splits the audience. I really enjoyed it, as did those who were with me. Cinema was full; many were laughing throughout.Having money won't make me happy but it will help me to be miserable in comfort0

Went to Thornbury Odeon in Bradford for Shopaholic.
Really enjoyed the film. Cinema was full, I'd say only a few empty seats.0 -
A poster reposted this one the code thread as you probably noticed. I quoted her and resubmitted my post underneath as it had the details on it rather than shout at him/her and as such tried to prevent a tirade of abusive e-mails, i'm afriad it didn't work.
Therefore sorry in arrears or advance if you waste your time looking at it again.
BTW, I thought Confessions was dull and rather lacklustre both in script and in acting. It improved after about 40 minutes but I couldn''t help thinking it would have been left better alone set in the UK like the book with a British theme? the jokes were very thin and very thinly spread.Jillsa0 -
Has anyone seen Marley and Me yet?? A friend of mine saw a preview on Monday night and said it was boring and lots of people walked out. I have a preview ticket in a weeks time, but was wondering whether to send it back?? Any thoughts/comments would be appreciated.
Thanks.Never argue with a fool, they will lower you to their level and then beat you with experience.........!!!:rotfl::T0 -

agree here- just between my dd & myself we had a split decision- I liked it but wasn't blown away- they loved it would give it a 8/10 to split our differences.Duct tape is like the force. It has a light side, a dark side, and it holds the world together."

I realised what had happened as soon as I saw it.
Looks like the "it didn't work" bit thinks you're responsible for BOTH posts this morning.
The explantion you've now added makes it clearer.
Incidentally, as has already been posted, there is something wrong in the locations for Surveillance - the ODEON in NOTTINGHAM doesn't exist any more. it CLOSED OVER EIGHT YEARS AGO !!!
