Unenforceable Credit Agreements

So from reading the discussion between Nickx and AverageJoe, I'm convinced it's worth using a claims agency, depending of course how much you're looking at getting written off, which is exactly what Cashpig and a couple of others have been saying of late,
It might cost a thousand pound to get 10, 20, 30thousand or more written off, I wouldn't begrudge paying that and after all you don't really expect them to do it for nothing, 'cos I know this much, a bank wouldn't do anything for you for free!0 -

The only reason I back that theory is cos most ppl will not be well equiped to deal with the entire claim themselves - and we all know the stress of receiving letters from banks can be like - even for unauthorised overdrafts and late direct debits etc.. so think what this stress for this would be like, and they'd crank it up a few notches too when they can see that there is no strong legal threat from you and you're a lone "warrior" with no solicitor in your corner breathing down their neck... - the fob offs and mis-direction you'd get from them would be scandlous..

Hi - Im a new member, and thought I'd get started right away, and what better place than Credit Cards !
A friend has told me its possible to clear your Credid Card balance due to an amendment in 2007 to The Consumer Credit Act of 1974 where section 217 (3 - 5) was deleted.
I've checked the various boards but can find little or no reference to this, has anyone any idea if this is something one can do oneself ?0 -

Thanks very much to both you guys for your very helpful advice to a newbie, what a great advert you both are to the MSE website0

Sometimes I put in a remark like that above to bump your original post back to the top of the forum. Some do not last long without a bump now and then.
I can think of one or two posters who will tell you what you want to know in due course................................I have put my clock back....... Kcolc ym0 -

Doshamento, if by helpful advice you mean staing the obvious in a somewhat sarcastic way, then yes I suppose RS did :rolleyes:0

Doshamento, if by helpful advice you mean staing the obvious in a somewhat sarcastic way, then yes I suppose RS did - unfortunately, thats exactly not what my request for help was, if I had the money, I wouldn't have asked - the responses certainly aren't what I expected, I guess all the hype about how friendly and valuable this site is, is just that, hype - is bert&ernie american or just a wannabe ? he's a funny man isn't he, he makes me laugh
Actually, bert&ernie is usually full of support for those who wish to [strike]steal money[/strike] er, sorry......try to get their balances written off.;)
I think he was more coming from the angle that this subject has been done to death on this forum, and it doesn't take much effort to seek out this info using the search facility. Opinion is pretty much polarised on the matter and it is therefore the cause of many heated exchanges and disagreements.
For your convenience, this thread should give you an idea of what I am talking about.
