  • Their biggest profit margin is from customers who forget to use their vouchers or who call them to book after they've expired. That's not a business model that should be operating today.
  • On the flipside, I had amazingly good service from Hotel Chocolat this morning (present didn't arrive). They answered the phone in under 3 rings, apologised profusely, spoke clearly and politely, offered a better item since the one I ordered has now sold out and told me they'd send it recorded delivery this time!! Absolute pleasure to deal with time and again and a truly inspiring British company.

In the same ilk I went to the Neals Yard sale and was helped by a lovely, friendly and knowledgable woman. Again, a 100% British company using ethical products and making a difference in the world.

Yes, both these places cost a bit more than a box of Milk Tray and a tub of E45 but they are quality through and through and deserve to thrive - recession or no.

I would not particularly want any business to fail. But I think that any company that shuts its foreign based call centres would do itself a world of good. As far as getting some goodwill amongst its customers. I am thinking particularly of Virgin Media. The people on the phone are nice enough, and helpful too, but to those of us who are not used to talking to foreigners it is very difficult to understand what they are saying. If you are a bit deaf as well the problem is amplified.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

What ever you do, do not get Hotel Chocolat's dipping chocolates - especially the White Chocolate one. Them with Marshmallows are amazing, but far far to good and before you know it you will be doing tricks on street corners to pay for your next pot :rotfl:

As for the OP - simple one company I would REALLY love to see die a very painful death 'Bright House' how what they do is legal I don't know, and really sum up how bad as a society we have come.

Have you ever noticed how difficult it is to get served when a shop/pub/etc are not busy.
'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher

Be honest now, there must be a chain, a shop, company or a person you'd like to see go t1tsup. :j

For me it's the photographic shop that sent away some old negatives I found, lost them and still tried to charge me postage and the coffee place near my work where they're always so rude i'd take my busniess elsewhere if there were an elsewhere.;)

Anyone else feeling honest? Somewher that's ripped you off big time maybe, terrible customer service, this country is so good at that :T There are those that deserve it IMHO.

I don't want to see anyone go bust, but there are people like that on this site. Personally I just want to make sure that I do well, rather than take pleasure in other people's misery
