Some do - many areas of customer service are atrocious. How many times have customer service staff said they will call you back but failed to do so?

There is bad service in every realm, for example nurses that chatter amongst themselves whilst filfth abounds and needy long delayed patient cases sit there unnoticed.

IT boffins are the bain of my life, in fact boffins in general. We threw our Dyson out as it was designed to work in ideal conditions only, and hopeless when it came to normal use in a normal home.
WII FIT - again some prat boffins came up with the genious idea we want to read thru time consuming pointless messages from electronic assistants (such as "hi there, welcome back, did you know your freind Dianna also registered" followed by acres of further pointless messages), when all you want to do is have a few goes then IMMEDIATELY pass over to the next player, but oh no, that player then also gets all the pointless messages, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Listen mate - they can rebrand it as much as they like - its still an NTL box in the cornwer, with an NTL cable, an NTL staff incapable of dealing with the simplest of problems - LIKE PICKING UP THE PHONE AND ANSWERING IT.

Richard Branson thinks he can take poorly run businesses, stick a Virgin tag on it, and make a nice fat profit. I reckon that games over for him now, he has finally managed to taint the oh so wonderful Virgin brand.

So yeah - let me add Virgin to the duff list - for any one of their pretending to be something special companies - trains, phones, planes, whatever.

come on guys enough already, i dint think i would need to be the one to point this out to you, but the real pleasure comes from these companies staying the distance, the customer once again becoming king. and that lovely rosey complexion our bottoms have, from all thoes loving warm customer service kisses (x.x)

I do get it, and I do realise it's light-hearted, but that's still my point of view.

I hate Tesco with a passion. The biggest retail business in Britain, yet they haven't bothered to fix the lighting in their car park near me which has been out since October. They issue their staff with high vis jackets, yet mere punters risk being run over just wheeling their trolleys to their car and I'm not going to buy a soddin' high vis jacket just to shop there. Hate them, hell yes! Wish them out of business, still no...
Whilst I entirely agree with you that Tesco should fix the lighting, it is actually a good idea to have a high-vis jacket or vest in the car (and it is the law in France). :D

I don't want to see anybody lose their jobs, the country is in a dire enough state as it is, but I wouldn't shed too many tears if the likes of Provident (and their subsidiary Yes Car Credit), Welcome Finance and other high cost sub-prime lenders were to shut up shop (and be replaced by credit unions).

I wouldn't wish to see anyone out of business, but I did experience some shocking retailer behaviour a fortnight before christmas.

Out in my town centre (which is only about 10 minutes less drive than to Bluewater shopping centre and more costly to park in) hubby and I were out to do our local bit and support the local high street before christmas rather than going to the big multiples. Three shocking examples of customer service on display.

Clinton Cards had two saturday girls gossiping about their boyfriends and i had to interrupt them to ask to be served, the same happened in Boots whilst I waited to ask a question. In Costa we had to queue for an age, they couldn't serve the drink I wanted, then I went to find a table and the only options were 5 separate tables covered in left overs and trays from the last people. Eventually after I tried to get someone to clear it away several times I went and did it myself. Didn't even get any thanks or apologies for presenting the tray to the assistant.

Huge shame because all the independant retailers really seemed to want my business when I walked into their shops! so basically anyone who is complacent with their service during a recession deserves to get at least a little kick up the backside!

I hope that all you "I'm alright Jacks" don't come running to the forum for help and advice if you should happen to lose your job because your employer has gone bust.

    No sympathy from me.

And exactly what help and advice do you think they'd get?
