Interestingly they only score me as "fair". All accounts are up to date, no mortgage, at present address 22 years, no ccj's or bad history. The only bad mark is being one month late, once, on a catalogue account I closed over 2 years ago.
Practically everything else shows "excellent" but they reckon because of the one late payment I may have difficulty getting credit.0 -
the link does work at 3.50, eventually. I kept at it and got 6.25, 8.25, 11.95 and eventually the 3.50 appeared. I just tried this but I get refused as they "cannot verify my identity online", and am supposed to ring them on a given number.
Seems a bit crap considering that they hold details of me at both of the addresses I gave during the sign up/ordering process. They've also sent me paper credit reports in my name to both of those addresses in the recent past, AND I've paid for them using the same credit card I just used with them online. What else could they possibly want?
Grrr...0 -
Well, gave equifax a ring this morning and "verified" that i was who I said I was by answering a few questions about my credit cards etc.
Went online again and ordered the £3.50 report and must say I'm quite impressed. For that price you get an immediate copy of your credit report and also their attempt at a guess on your credit score (probably best taken with a pinch of salt).
The online credit report is excellent, it's set out in a clearer format than the paper reports I am used to getting from them and the ability to order and receive it instantly is great. I much prefer this method of delivery but given that you get essentially all the same info via the post for £2 I wouldn't want to pay anymore than £3.50 for it. Did someone say the usual price for this online service is going to be 11 quid? No bloody chance!
My credit score was marked down as poor, which was a surprise, heh. Almost everything was flagged as "excellent", 5 ongoing credit accounts, some of them longstanding for years, none of them with any late payments at all.
However, I take a major negative hit for not being on the electoral role (not such a surprise that), but also they suggested I had too many recent credit searches. That was a shock because I have only one very recent Barclaycard search, and one from not quite 6 months ago for an RBS card (I'm a tart I know).
The problem seems to stem from NTL, who I have a phone and cable internet account with. When I opened the account with them it seems they peppered my credit file with 8 searches over a few days. For one account, 8 searches!! What was that about eh?
I'm just about to ring them and set a rocket under their !!!!!!. Wish me luck0 -
Got straight through to the £3.50 offer using the OPs link above.
think this is good value for instant online report, but as stated above, wouldn't pay £11 for it - credit rating a bit of a gimmick but provides some useful info and happy to receive an excellent rating.
Thanks, OP.If you're happy to sell it to me at a price I am happy to pay - then I want it cheaper.0 -
I thought there was some vaue in getting the credit rating.
I would not otherwise have noticed an open account at my previous address.
It drew my attention to a problem.
I think it's pretty good having it on-line for that price.0 -
I finally got my statutory credit report from Equifax and got a few surprises. There I was expecting to see several searches over the last year, but no not one single search in the last 12 months despite all the applications for credit cards and accounts I have made. No, the only searches were from 2 years ago! I thought searches only stayed on for a year? I'm sure that's what Experian told me when I looked at their credit report. Anyone know?
Also, I moved out of the family home over 4years ago, yet I still see every credit info for my parents and sisters at their address on my file. That made very interesting reading...;) Is it in my interests to disassociate myself from them? I was advised a couple of years ago that it was better to stay associated as it improved my credit rating - would this still be the case do you think?
I much prefer Experian's credit report, much more helpful. Absolutely no help from Equifax >:(.0 -

It really depends on what your credit is like and what theirs is like, so impossible to judge without more details.I much prefer Experian's credit report, much more helpful. Absolutely no help from Equifax
Not all companies use both agencies.
For example I have found that IF use Equifax and not Experian.
I also found a lot more of my accounts on the Experian report, so will concentrate on that one in future.0 -
Went onto the Equifax site today. You can get a credit rating for £3.50p and a credit report for £8.25p. So have people really got the credit report for £3.50p or just the credit rating?
If you go to https://www.checkmyfile.com you can get a credit rating for free but this is only based on details you enter (plus info on your locality) and not on your credit file.
However, if you sign up for the Credit Monitor Service there you can get a full credit report.
Credit Monitor costs £39.99p but if you cancel after one month you get a refund so your credit report has cost nothing! The refund does work - I got mine within two days! However, you take pot luck as to whether they check Experian or Equifax.
I think you can sign up for a triple service and get three credit reports for £69.99p. Again cancel after one month and get your money back. You then get three reports for free - from Equifax, Experian plus another credit agency.0 -

I chose the £3.50 option and got both the credit report and the credit "rating" for the one price.0
