Not so quick answer.:)Hope This HelpsAdvanced engineering methods & the highest-quality materials / Isolate signal to deliver brighter, more accurate colors and sharper detail / 6 Feet
Delivering High-Definition Video and improved Color over S-Video, Blue Series Component Video Cables provide freedom from interference and delivers brighter, more accurate colors along with sharper detail from component devices. This component Video is the ideal solution for HDTV and Progressive-Scan DVD players. The 3 cables are separated through color into primary components to transmit three distinct signals. This provides brighter, more accurate colors and sharper detail, exceeding the performance of Composite and S-Video.
Features:
Improve clarity with superior-grade, 99.99%-purity, solid-copper conductors
Signal integrity and 75 Ohm impedance using precision-formulated, nitrogen-injected dielectric
Precise contact & increased durability with a split-tip center pin and 6-cut, corrosion-resistant, 24k gold RCA connectors
Maximum bandwidth with 75 Ohm coaxial construction
Maximum isolation from electromagnetic and radio frequency interference with double-shielded construction
Signal isolation from noise with 100%-coverage aluminum & Mylar foil shield
A second layer of protection with tinned, copper-braided shielding
Corrosion elimination that is common in bare, copper-braided shielding"Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0 -

Picked up two packs today, one for use with my dvd and hdtv and one as a spare, thanks to the OP :A
Guy at the till said "that's more than half price!!, what do you use them for?"0 -
These things are a good example of snake oil. People are easily taken in by the carefully-constructed marketing guff as quoted by rizla01. The original price is way over the top: don't let it fool you. It seems that, having been rumbled about their mis-selling of overpriced "extended warranties", companies are now trying to maintain their profit margins by selling you silly cables. I know that Richer Sounds does this.
Yes, you can get cables that are so bad that they don't make contact properly, or (in the case of video cables) have crosstalk and reflections, but it's really rather difficult to make such a thing which would have any noticeable effect on the signals passing through it.
Money savers should be savvy with their purchases and not just be fooled by unrealistic "original prices" or "RRP".Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0 -
Lol - I think...... maybe they've confused "component" with "composite"????
composite = 1 cable!???Be an amateur! Professionals built the Titanic, amateurs built the Ark!!

Got a top bargin from Maplin (in store) a couple of days ago. Fully screened gold connections component lead, 10 metres for £23.99. (advertised £29.99). Ran it from my new Pioneer DVD Recorder to my Panasonic PJ. Unbelievable improvement over over my previous s-video connection."...IT'S FRUITY!"0

It's the last sentence that is of significance here: you are using component instead of s-video. Whether the lead had gold plated connectors or had been blessed by the Pope would not have made that much difference, though for a ten metre length of cable, it would have been relatively easy to make a bad one I guess.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0 -

I think the information given is correct - it talks about having three cables for component instead of one for composite. But they are trying to persuade the gullible that the better results are something to do with the unique properties of this gold plated solid copper 99.9% pure yada yada yada cable.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0 -
clay wrote:Quick question is this a single cable or a set of 3 ??
Just to clarify this point. This is one cable which splits into the usual 3 colour components, red, blue and green.
I agree with gromituk, cable manufacturers and sellers do use a fair bit of artistic licence when describing cables and their properties. As an example, I was amused to find that my cheapo red+white phono cable that I bought for connecting my turntable to my amp seems to work for virtually any other connection that requires the same physical connection.
As aI said eralier, this cable is probably worth more than the £7.49 price available from PC World, but not a lot more, and certainly not £24.99.0 -

It will. This never used to be an issue. Unfortunately the fact that you were surprised by it just shows how much misinformation regarding cables has been pumped at us for so long. Gold plated mains plug, anyone?Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0
