If you are making soaps to sell you have to hold certification , even for melt & pour....though if it's just for your own personal use, you don't need one...and if you haven't tried making soap, it's great fun...very addicitive!
if its prescented melt and pour no cert is needed also the soaps made to look like food depends on the area you live as some TS agents are stricter than others, mine doesnt even have anything to do with soaps its my local council0 -

Yes, that's right about buying pre certified bases, but I inderstand you can only melt & pour them, and not add anything to them, so it can limit you a bit...I know there are differences in Trading standards rules & regs, but I personally wouldn't risk it, even though I have insurance...but I'm sure plenty of people do and will continue to do so...same as many people who sell soap that they have made aren't aware that they have to have certification & insurance.Cazo1:wave:0 -

Any one interested in a forum dedicated to crafters from Ireland. Also intersted in setting up a regular craft fair maybe on a monthly basis. Anyone interested send a pm so I can gauge feedback.
I would be very interested in such a forum. I find it very difficult to find information and potential markets and would be very willing to share any that i found.
Hopefully you have got enough feedback to do this.0 -

Hi, just found this forum,it seems great! I make fresh evergreen Christmas wreaths with cones, cinnamon sticks etc, and am very interested in trying to sell them on a small scale at an upmarket christmas fair. Could anyone please suggest a good place to start? It would need to be an event at the very start of December or end of November.
Thanks a lot, good luck to everyone out there!0
