flowers from tescos.com

I ordered an xl lillies and roses bouquet for my Mum when she came home from hospital. They arrived promptly and initially looked beautiful. After 4 days Mum rang me so disappointed with the lillies, they weren't opening and the flowers were turning brown and dropping. So I duly emailed tescos to complain and the reply was that seeing as how I'd left it so long (5 days) to complain then the complaint couldn't be investigated! I replied that 1) it was flowers and therefore by their very nature you need to wait to see if they open etc 2) they guarantee their flowers for 7 days and by now it was still only the 6th day since delivery. Their reply stated that the 7 days only applies to in store flowers, flowers received via tescos.com you can only complain up to 48 hours! 'But we value your comments and appreciate you bringing this to our attention'

No refund, no voucher, no new flowers just an apology and thanks for telling us.

£33.25 is alot of money to spend on substandard flowers, and Mum - who hates waste - is now more upset with her flowers than if I hadn't bothered!

That sounds a bit harsh! Were the roses okay?

I would of thought that Tesco should have offered compensation in some way. But I guess if they dont guarantee flowers direct for as long as from store then they dont.

Roses are ok no more no less, pretty colour though. Will buy from store in future when pos and send via other companies if they can't guarantee any longer than 48 hours!

My family has bought through Flying Flowers before and have had some really nice flowers, on the odd occasion, we have had a problem they have sent replacement bouquets out free of charge - use them next time - they have done well for us in the past!

Flying Flowers....took an extra day to get to my address in N.Ireland (like everything else that comes by 1st class post it takes a day longer because it's rural or some such excuse). Then of course cos I work I wasn't in to accept them, so that was another day gone.. Got some v.v.dead daffs in the end.... appreciated the thought though...

Well, don't give up. Take it further. Google for the MD, and write to him/her personally.
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

I ordered a large bouquet of flowers from Tesco's a few months back for my MIL the flowers died after 3 days so I called them and they redelivered a different bunch. The second bunch died after 4 days so when I called up they gave me a refund no problems?

Both times they never queried what I was saying and straight away asked if I wanted a refund or replacement. I would keep on at them and I advise everyone to never use tesco for flowers, they are so overpriced ( I paid £30 for 6 stems  ) and quite frankly extremally poor quality.

You could argue that they were not "fit for their intended use" as they didn't open. Or maybe they were wrongly described, as you never got lillies - just big buds on stems.I would certainly try ringing them back in the hope that you get to speak to someone more understanding. Also may be worth asking them to prove that their policy of flowers lasting 7 days does not apply to online orders. If you are going to write a letter of complaint (I would) it will be well worth getting a picture of 'unopened' dying lillies to prove your point.

this is totally wrong of tesco,(got my florist head on )
lillies if bought in bud should last for ages as it takes a good few days for them to open i would also say it sounds like there is defo a problem with the lillies maybe got damp or just a bad batch which does happen, dont let them fob you off if your flowers had been kept too hot/cold or not been looked after the roses would have died too .
    Hope this helps

    Try ringing Tesco again tomorrow.

Often with customer services at various companies if you speak to a different person you get a different answer!
