just bought 8 packets of 12 crackers for £3.92 which is still cheaper than 1 packet before reduction for £3.99. Will do nicely for next christmas for school.
No reliance should be placed on the above.

Was luckily enough to get 4 of the table runner and napkins sets today. They are really nice either red or white/silver from £19.99 to 49p again! Fab!

Good luck everyone else might try a different whs next week to check for other bargains!
  • Oh no ... I desperately wanted some of the table runners but nothing like that in the store I went to - in fact they hardly had anything. However did manage to get a DIY cracker set for 49p.

Hope the rest of you have more luck!

Not a huge amount at 40p in my local store, but did get the following in the sale:
2 packets of children's christmas cards reduced £5.99 to 49p. I liked thse because the cards has large badges on rather than a picture.
I chocolate lovers gift set (cook book, mini grater, measuring spoons timer) £12.99 to £2.99. Kids day out gift set (disposable camera and book) £2.99 from £12.99. Two radio pens £2.99 from £9.99. Science museum wild animals art set £4.99 from £19.99. Huge blue shiny cracker £9.99 to £2.99 to put aside for daughter's birthday party :)

The 49p stock in Canterbury was rather limited, they had quite a lot of the cheaper items so lots of wrapping paper and cheap cards, I did however stumble upon a box of snow flake lights that cover a widon, priced at £6.99 but scanned at 49p!!!! Thanks so much OP I would never have tried them beofre reading it on here. I also got a Horrible Histories gift bos for £2.99.

The Folkestone store had NOTHING left at all, no 49p things not even cards, I was hoping for a few bits. These are the only smiths I ever go near so I don't think i'll be getting anymore.

you have to be slightly careful buying reduced Christmas cards. Some stores (notably Tescos) print stuff on the back that is date specific-ie Tescos have on the back to bring the cards in store to be recycled 'until January15th 2006.
I got some reduced one year, went to write them the next Christmas, noticed the date which made it v obvious I had been a cheapskate, and couldn't bring myself to send them! Instead, I sent them all up to my DDs nursery where all the little children had fun attacking them with scissors!!

I will try Homebase for crackers. Tesco just have cheapie ones reduced. I do have standards:rotfl: They must have originally cost at least £10 and now be no more than £1.50. Previous years bargains make you greedy. I'm also watching Boots. Their crackers still half price, but they will go lower as I bought 3 boxes a couple of years ago for £5 (they were 3 for 2 and reduced from £15 to £2.50).

I was looking for bargains in Woolies and the women next to me had an armful of 1/2 price cards. I sent her to WHS for the 49p ones. She went skipping off!!

I wouldn't worry about that. All my friends know I buy in January anyway - converted a few too.

Our LA sets up card recycling points in the foyers of its main buildings for card recycling. Also WHS do this. All cards gratefully accepted.
