I'd keep it - but then I am evilA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Happened to me only yesterday at Debenahms... Returned a suit jacket and one receipt said £45 with page 2 (on the other side) showing the online discount code of 20%. The lady spoke with the suit department, came back, didn't even look at the other receipt which showed the correct amount too and refunded £45, £9 profit. I was well chuffed. If it was a local butcher I'd more than likely go back in but for a multi-million pound company well... what's £90

no I wouldnt say anything.
Reminds me of a similar case with me recently. My card details were fraudulently used to buy £1000 of flights in South America recently and the money taken for my account. I reported it as fraud and got my money back off the bank. 3 weeks later the airline also refunded me.
I'm quids in at the moment, but obv. not spending it just yet. I have no guilt about keeping the money (call it 'interest' for being stolen from, sent into my overdraft, having to change my cards and direct debits etc etc)
would you tell the bank/airline?0 -
without doubt tell them, whether its 2p or £2000, I couldn't live with the guilt, seriously - my guardian angel would give out to me = one troubled conscience.
Not worth it. :eek:0 -

You'd feel guilty over 2p?0 -
No way! I'd keep the £70 and I wouldn't even give it a second thought. I know it's wrong but I don't care! :rotfl:"This Will Be Mine In 2009 Member" #215...

What is the legal position on this? Isn't a company allowed to refund more than you paid for an item?0

I won't. We didn't cheat them. We didn't ask for it. Morally, I will just "try" be buy more things from them. Practically, money is hard to find these days. Every little helps.0

I would definitely notice if they refunded that much extra and would point it out straight away at the till - much to OH's annoyance!
I ordered a TV/video years ago, and two arrived on different days.
OH was horrified when I called up the company to ask them to take one back. There's no way I could have slept at night having kept the extra one though.
I felt bad enough last year when I returned a dress to Debenhams because I'd managed to buy it for a lower price at John Lewis...0 -
i was in halfords a few years ago, returning a bike rack holder, cost £30.
The cashier, gave me a £30 card refund, (from which i paid), then £30 cash! Thankssss
