Thank you everyone.
..xxI am only me, no pretences, no second guesses.. It's the best I can do, I'm sorry if that's not good enough for you... I'm sorry I'm not good enough for you :A0 -
Scattymam – notebook was about £1 from Asda! I had to buy the whole stationary range of course. I love it and love books that a pretty as it means I always pick them up! Is your new netbook fab? Is it a little dinky thing?? Well done on music magpie
Goochie – no naughty list for Rudolph day! You have done really well. How many CD’s did you sell on Music Magpie? You did well getting that much. I feel this could be my next money neutral tip!
PLM – Sawyer is the fittest thing I have ever seen in my life. There is a LOST thread in the arms for chatting about Lost theories (which I usually turn into disarray by pervy comments about Sawyer). I was so gutted that Frogurt gave him a shirt I wanted him naked all season! LOL! Aww I so pleased to see you in the magazine. Can’t wait to see your new work xx
Aurora – I would take mum2ones advice and watch out for the next comp on Qype before wasting your time as this one has shut! A card and a cuddle sounds fab for V day! Why don’t you make some fun “IOU vouchers” for your OH e.g. “One voucher for a massage” etc. Cheap and fun!Fingers crossed for your job! Welcome to the thread J
Mum2one – if you get ££ for a referral to bview then PM me and you can refer me as I might have a go
JordanShannon – WOOOOOOOOP! £71... That is super!! What are you going to spend it on??? Well done! If you are struggling for ideas then I’m sure we could take it off your hands for you.....
Sylph – thanks for the heads up about Boots.com. Also you can get Boots cashback on topcashback but none of the other sites. HTH someone. Our star crafter was in Creativity Life. Right near the end. I did notice the 15minutes of fame woman in that clip..only once you had pointed it out lol!

Hello all, here I am in bright blue again, that can only mean one thing....a money neutral tip is on the way.
In order to make some extra cash for your gift buying this year, why not try and flog some of your old DVDs and CDs.
Do some research first to check you are getting the best price. Check completed listings on eBay (under advanced options) to see how CDs sell, more unusual ones do well here so I'm told.
Several users have had some success with Music Magpie as mentioned in one of Martin's Articles here
" Quicker cash for old CDs & DVDs.
- The website Music Magpie allows you to type in details of your CDs & DVDs, and it’ll give you an instant cash price, though you need to trade in a minimum of 5 at a time (and up to 500!). To do it you just type in the barcode numbers and follow the on-screen instructions. The site also buys computer games, but for the most part you'll do better by trading them in at high st. game shops.
- If you accept its offer, it’ll send postage-paid bags to dunk them in and you’ll get cash upon receipt. Someone with loads to get rid of could speedily make money this way.
- How much? It depends on the CD of course, most CDs will get you 60p-70p though some go for over £1. DVDs go up to £3.
Can’t I do better elsewhere? Yes, for more modern CDs/DVDs you’re far better off selling them individually on eBay* and other auction sites to get much more. Where MusicMagpie wins out is on convenience, not price (see eBay selling guide for how to maximise your price). Discuss and feedback on music magpie in the CD selling discussion thread
How much? Dedicated sellers make £100s on the side."
Some of our Thrifty Gifty girls have reported getting £40-60 from Music Magpie. You type in the barcode number and it tells you how much it will sell for. Definitely one to think about given that the digital age is upon us!;) ...but check it isn't a valuable CD worth £100's before you sell it for 25p!- Also one user mentioned trying https://www.cex.co.uk as they made more money that way - I have no experience of them but worth a look
A good tip here might be to have a look for the top money making CDs or DVDs and keep an eye out for them at Boot sales or charity shops. That way you might spend 50p on it at a boot sale but get £3 back on music magpie. Also if anyone finds one of their CD's or DVD's is worth a few quid, then let the rest of us know in case we have one/can hunt one down cheaply! This could be a fun tip
Anyone have any success with the last money neutral tip #1? (as follows)
MN TIP #1 - RECYLE YOUR OLD MOBILE PHONES AND INK CARTRIDGES! Martin has written this article on how to do it.
Last year I recycled 2 of my old phones and ended up with £19 in Argos vouchers from Envirophone.
I also recycled my ink cartridges with tesco for 100pts each (£4 in clubcard deals) and Boots for 100 pts (£1 to spend in boots).
So tip for January is to dig out all your old mobiles and see how much you can get and have a look if you can recycle your ink cartridges. That will start you off to being money neutral as you build up your points and vouchers
I didn't have any more phones to recyle this year, so I made a total of £0 from this. I did however recyle 2 ink cartridges so got 200pts (£2) in Boots point :T

I did Music Magpie yesterday - so chuffed - my dad gave me two boxes of cds and dvds out of his loft. The cds def. got the most money. There were some weird never heard of in my life ones that got me about £3 each which was great - they said I would get £45.00 for them all and I only did about a third of what I had - it was roughly about 45 items but some things only got 25p so I think it's great - dad was just going to take them to the skip.
Now some of the dvd's they were only giving me 20p for and they were newish titles i.e. coach carter, cheaper by the dozen, etc; so I know I can sell dvds for a pound no problems at a boot sale (or I might try ebay) so I didn't trade them in. and the other third I'm keeping for myself:T more clutter! So I'm hoping to double my tally when I sell the rest. At this rate I'm going to be money neutral for next christmas by the end of feb:rotfl:
But the biggest thing was no hassle - cos I had so many there was no way I could put them all on ebay, photo them all and sep. list them, there are no listing fees and no postage fees and you get it instantly and there's no individual wrapping and labelling etc; and a lot of the titles were so weird (like 'sun on the river' and 'atmospheric moods') I know I would struggle to get rid of them at a car boot, so they are gone - and I've earned money - fab.0
