Hi, thanks for your replies. The 120 I mentioned was the speed of the card the man said he would replace. I'm presuming he meant 1024?? He told me that the card I currently had was an ATI 64?? He would replace with an ATI 120 (or 1024?), the card would cost £75 and then his labour would go on top of that. The figure he gave me was £150 altogether.

Sorry for misreading. £150 is even worse though :)

How did you get on with http://imageshack.us/ ? Did it give you a URL e.g. http://img80.imageshack.us/my.php?image=catgoggleswr7.jpg ?

That's working. I can't tell much from the photo but hopefully one of the experts on here will be able to!

Yes you'll be able to get one on eBay etc for less than £75, and if you've opened up your PC already to dust it etc you'll be capable of fitting the new card.

The only question is whether it's an AGP, PCI or PCI-E type of card - each one fits into a different shaped slot on your motherboard, so it depends which type you have. Hopefully someone will be able to tell you from the photo as I'm not sure, but let's hope it's not PCI as I'm looking for one at the moment and they're more expensive than the others.

does the back of the red card look like this?

if yes, then its the graphics card. look for any model numbers or brand names (eg ati as you have already said) and if you find any post them on here so we can work out if its a PCI/AGP/PCI-express card and direct you towards a replacement

I'd happily say that the card is an AGP one - is the slot that the graphic card sits in, brown? If so, it is almost certainly AGP.

Usually AGP slots will have a clip to hold keep the card from coming out the slot slightly. You will need to move this to undo the card, then unscrew the metal bracket of the card from the case - after that, it should lift out, providing you remembered to unplug your monitor from it. ;)

gaming_guy, it doesn't matter what the back of the card looks like. That is not a safe method of determining whether or not the card is AGP!
Everybody is equal; However some are more equal than others.

PS. I still have side off computer if I need to look for something else

    TIA x

i said that to just help them easily identify the graphics card, so that the OP didnt end up giving a model number of a network card for example.

the red card is your graphics card. They are easy to take out and re fit. So take it out, take a close up pic and re-post that.
