siemens a75 can it be unlocked ?

Options
i have been using a nokia 6210 for ages it has just died, i then got a Siemens A75 from tescos for £25, thinking i could easily put my o2 sim card in it, i thought it all went ok, until i try to make a call, then of course it wont accept any numbers at all, other wise it works ok, i can recieve calls OK,

None of the free software downloads appear to cater for my model of phone, can anyone help ?, please.

  • a) Have you run out of calltime?
    b) Have you got network coverage? (This will be indicated on the phone's display).
    c) Is your battery charged?
    d) Have you entered the full area code - even for local numbers?

If you want to fully unlock an a75 then as I said in the post about the a62, you need to cut a track (testpoint) on the phone first, then unlock using a cable and some free software (Joker version 007 will do it) if you want to do this yourself.

  • If it can receive calls via the old O2 sim then it sounds like it is already unlocked for O2. In fact I think Tesco mobile uses the O2 network.
  • Thanks for that noyagain, theres no easier way then, i might just change to Tesco and keep my old number if i can. thanks for your help.

it seems queer i cant make any calls though with the O2 card in a tesco phone.

  • Don't know why it won't make outgoing calls as Tescos definately piggyback on the o2 network

You've run out of call time??? that would be it then. :rotfl:
  • all the numbers from my Phone book and numbers typed in directly all cause the error "Incorrect entry" otherwise the phone works perfectly.

could i have altered something to change phone numbers to binary or decimal or something like that, ok, i AM clutching at straws

hi my kids use tesco mobile and although it runs on o2 you still have to get it unlocked. i did one by taking to shop and paying £10,the other i topped up on tesco mobile for £30,then they will unlock it for you,and you get to still use your £30 credit if you see what i mean.
hope this helps and i haven't got the wrong end of the stick(i normally do !!!!!!)

  • As above or else :-

"Came across this before and it was a security lock that prevented
outgoing calls, just check in the phones security settings and ensure
that the phone hasnt a block on outgoing calls / similar"

grabbed from elsewhere but seems likely
