If you buy a PAYG Mobile World sim card from Carphone Warehouse for £9.99 calls to Pakistan are 14p a minute from your mobile (cheap UK calls too). Doesn't sound as cheap as using access number services, but at least there's no hassle with access codes that don't work or poor line quality.
Also the promotion at the mo is free calls until Valentines Day, so anything you spend up to £100 will be credited back to you on Feb 14th. So really, the calls are only 7p/min to Pakistan when you take into account the refund (if you use the refunded credit).0 -

If you get a FREE O2 payg sim card.Choose 100 minute option. Top up by £10 .Your get 100 minutes x -net completely free to Pakistan by using 07744 or 0844 access numbers. Plus you can get a free 50 minute x-net bolt on for three months. So thats 150 free minutes, and you dont pay for them because you get the £10 to spend as well.So if you used the £10 solely for 0844 calls at E&W they cost 5p a minute. So thats another 200 minutes.
In total doing this for an outlay of £10 a month gives you 350 minutes you can use .Brings call charge down to less then 3p a minute,3.3p once free 50 minute bolt on runs out.Plus you are not paying for a new sim.PF.0 -

Or you can use https://www.dialaround.co.uk 0844 428 69 69.
You might find the SF 07744 line quality is better.
Once you have used up your inclusive minutes O2 will charge you for calls.
I have an O2 contract phone (200 inclusive mins per month).
Can I use these inclusive calls to dial a number (SF07744
) and it will be FREE (ie within my inclusive calls package) between Mon-Fri???
Can I ask what/who 'SF' is/are? Thanks0 -

Yes, you can use your 200 inclusive minutes to call Pakistan for free.
SF is Simplyfone, their access number 07744 97 4404 which allows free calls to pakistan from monday to friday. For full details check...

I still have to reinstate call barring and havent used the service since.0 -
stevemej, I'm wondering if you had a different problem ...
If you press the Send key (green phone) after the international number, the first call (the 0844) goes on hold, and then a second call is made.
On the other hand, O2 would probably only have call barring on 09 numbers, and possibly 070. Were you calling 0906 and 0911 numbers?0 -

Anyway i'm not trying it agains untiol call barring is put back on.
Incidentally when i first started using these services it was easy, and i didnt have any problems. then it became more difficult with calls terminating immediately after dialing. (ie, I got through to the dialaround number ok but after dialling the international number I was just disconnected).
Anyone else had any probs??0 -
I'm a bit confused, but some of these services want a # after the required number, and some don't. It's also quite common for # to end one call on the call-through or calling card arrangement ready for a follow-on call. So I'm wondering slightly if you've used # at the end of a number when it wasn't needed, and this has cut the call instead.0
