Firefox / Opera vs IE

I've tried Firefox and it is very good. It may seem a bit clunky at first compared to IE. as IE. is using a local cache of data that has been aquired over time. A new copy of Firefox has to build up its own store of stuff. Once you revisit sites then things are much faster than Internet Explorer.
You don't risk anything as Firefox can live with IE. Your cookies are imported and your access to secure sites is the same as before. Email is unaffected, in my case it is still handled by outlook express . To go the whole way you can install the Thunderbird email client.
Overall. I am impressed by Firefox, an advertisement and spyware free browser.

Thunderbird is great too. Only drawback is that it can't yet sync with Pocket PC if you have a PDA, which is a bit of a PITA.There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.

Can only add to the praise of Firefox and if you have to access the internet via dial up you will find it very much speedier than IE.
I downloaded Firefox at home before getting broadband and noticed an appreciable difference, so much so that I downloaded it at work to speed things along on dial up there.0 -
Hey, thanks guys! Feel much better about it now.
Jut moving on slightly - Alex, you got me worried. Loadsa sites require compulsory registration (like, this one?), so what personal info can the site master get and, er, what can s/he do with it?? Hey, you're getting me worried here (well, not HERE, but in general).
Anyone out there got anything negative to say about Firefox or Opera, or are they really that good?
No need to worry, the only info they get is what you enter. This site doesn't require registration and the registration needed is so that you know who's posting.
I'm talking about sites like https://www.mediaguardian.co.uk where you have to register for free to see articles. BugMeNot just saves time from having to fill in forms with fake details.
Don't worry about anything - just trying to demonstrate the usefulness of the browser.

Thanx for the reply, Alex - I'll sleep easier.
Not that us Telegraph readers would dream of filling forms in using fake details
I'll give BugmeNot a look - never heard of it before, so thanks for that.0 -
