Can anyone advise? I'm trying to set up an infrared connection to my phone. I've tried help and network connections but it only tells you how to connect one computer to another?
I'm using XP Pro
Thanks yet again

Hi,
What kind of phone do you have?
Are you trying to send data from the computer to the phone or the phone to the computer?0 -
I just place my phone (T610) about 2 inches away from the sensor on my laptop and after a couple of seconds the infra red icon appears on the screen.
Have you loaded your phones software onto your computer ?0 -
Phone --> PC:
In your phone menu, select the picture/sound/video, and click Send, Via Infrared. Click accept on your PC!
PC --> Phone:
RIght click the file you want to Send to your phone, Then send to, click Infrared.

Oh yeah.
On your phone, ensure that the Infrared is ENABLED on your phone!0 -
Thanks, I'm trying to download pictures from my pc to my phone to use as wallpaper. Its a Nokia 7250i. The infrared on the phone is activated. I didn't get any software with the phone.
Thanks0 -
Try downloading the software from Nokia and installing it.

Thanks Monday, downloaded but can't get it to work. I'm pointing the phone at the pc tower, the infra red's activated on the phone but it isn't being picked up. I'm only a foot away from it. Am I doing something wrong?0

On some laptops, infrared is disabled by default as it uses a COM port; it was on my Dell Latitude D600. If so, you will need to go into your BIOS and enable it. Set it to an unused COM port like 3 or 4. Windows XP may then install some drivers in the background. Enable infrared on your phone too and point the two infrared detectors at each other. Infrared needs line of sight. If there is a connection, Windows XP will pop up with a balloon window to state that it has detected your phone.
Once this has worked, you can then install the Nokia software which gives you an easy way to transfer things across.

When you activate infared on the phone and line it up with your PC, does your PC make a strange noise and a little infared icon appear down in the bottom right (next to the time)?
Also, what version of Windows are you running?0
