Tom Tom Go 920 Dead after 12 days use!!

Can anyone offer advise please. I bought a Tom Tom Go 920T from Dixons online as a Christmas present for my hubby. Obviously, he didn't start using it until after 25 December. Unfortunately, last night it completely died and now won't switch on or respond in anyway:mad: . Previous to this, it was a little tempramental losing GPS signal continually and voice breaking up while giving directions. It also never warned of safety cameras until the day before it died. It's fully charged so I can't think of another reason of why it won't switch on. Being completely new to Sat Nav devices, is there any other logical explanation as to why it won't switch on. I've emailed Dixons Customer Services team to report it as faulty but have yet to hear anything. Does anyone know of a telephone number for Dixons apart from the rip off 0844 number. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Ooo-er - I had a 920T a few weeks ago, have you tried using the rest button on the back?Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0

Have you tried pushing a paperclip into the reset hole? Make sure you use the reset hole on the side not the mic hole on the front.
I have a fix for the voice breakup problem too, but more of that if you get it working.
If it doesn't restart log a call on tomtom home and tomtom will help you out directly - they are quite good with hardware problems.0 -

Yup, just tried the reset button. It's on the bottom on our model with reset written besides it so must be the right one. Still nothing though but thanks anyway.;)0 -
Our first TomTom was either dead out of the box or died after it was first turned on. Sent it back and got a replacement which has been fine ever since. We'd read reviews which said this had happened to other people. Doesn't sound like too much has changed in two years!Make £2025 in 2025

If you have no help with dixons then contact tom tom through their website. Mine blew up literally sparks and smoke filled the car whilst I was driving! they sent me all the packaging to send it to them special delivery and I recieved another one (this was after 10 months!)
If you go to https://www.saynoto0870.com there might be an alternative number on there instead of the high priced number. (sorry can't do it for you as website not working for me at the moment)Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -
Just a quick update. After pressing reset for the 2nd time, I managed to power on. Went on to Tom Tom home - updated devices and also backed it up. After completed this, got quite excited as thought I'd managed to solve the problem. However, when touching the screen to navigate through menus, nothing happened, it wouldn't budge. Decided to switch off and then on again. Big mistake, I'm back to square one now. Won't switch on or respond at all again. Just sitting looking good in it's charging cradle with no sign of life. I've completely lost faith in it now, it has to go back. Will try Dixons first then Tom Tom themselves if no joy.
Thanks for all your help anyway.0 -
Don't waste your time and money with Dixons go direct to Tom Tom as the OP says great back up service.0

We got the 920T in July. On hols in France in August, it started playing up (switching itself off). We thought it was a problem with the in-car cable, so bought a new one while away. It seemed OK for a few weeks, but then became temperamental again. And a few weeks ago, it stopped working altogether. It won't switch on, and there's no green light showing when it's plugged in to charge either. Fortunately, ours was bought for us by in-laws, who've taken it off us, and given us theirs while they sort the problem.0
