expedia have been good to me in the past... the past few trips, i've found the airline direct being cheaper, but sometimes it is only £10 cheaper, as expedia seem to charge £10 as their admin.. but, now i'm quidcoing, they may work out better.. it's a shame they don't do every airline

Last Minute were cheapest by far for my last hotel stay in Spain. Also my flights to GOA, nearly 25% cheaper than ebookers.
Each company has its specials, so it really is worth searching across the board

I've often found Expedia cheaper than the hotels own site, plus no credit card charges, Quidco and nectar points. Also I like to pay there and then rather than guessing what the exchange rate will be when I finally turn up at the hotel. I booked all my hotels for my trip to the US at Easter many months ago when the rate was so much better. If I'd booked with the hotel to pay when I get there it would have ended up costing me much more.

Hi. Just a general thread on sites like Expedia and also lastminute.com to a ceratin degree.

Having searched loads of flights, apartments, hotels to/in various places in the last year or so, I've come to the conclusion that these 2 sites in particular seem to be a bit of a rip off. I've never ever, ever found anything like a bargain on either of them.
So, was just wondering if anyone else has, and if so, please do tell.

I use both as PART of my serch for holidays -good website that often give me a starting point Had some good deals from Lastminute and one from expedia.I dont always look for the cheapest but look for the most suitable for us . both sites give good information and fairly easy to book.
Who do you recommend for good holiday websites

God forbid they make a profit !

I booked my Costa Rica flights through Expedia and flew Business class for Economy prices !

Use the search button wisely and all the best prices are available

How can you get Quidco and Nectar Points? How can you follow a link from both sites?

Go through quidco like normal, then enter your nectar card number once you booking is confirmed. I got 3,000 for a package deal lately and 600 points for a hotel booking. It all adds up :)
  • In 2006 I got a 2 night trip to Disneyland Paris including transport, breakfast and park passes for £88 per person. They never seem quite so competitive these days although they're still great for theatre and attraction tickets.

A huge thanks to Glennthebaker, re price matching at Marriot. I was going to book on Expedia for 4 nights at a Marriot, and you've saved me £100. ( I hope!!!!)

Dohhhh. They wouldn't match it, because the cancellation policy was different. I'd gone for the cheapest rate room, to pay up front. Although I had to pay Expedia up front, they had a charge of £15 if you cancelled 48hrs before arrival.
Luckily I could cancel without penalty. Worth a try though.

SimbaK2K. I go into Expedia through Quidco and towards the end of the booking proceedure you are prompted to enter your Nectar card number. Got 600 points per hotel booking when they had a promo on, I thinks it's usually 200. Hope this helps you.
