Valli - that house is fabulous. I'm hoping to go the firework display at Matlock Bath this year, haven't been for years, but used to go with my parents when we lived in Derby, and would love to live in that area, but here's nice too! :D

Psalm 121 "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help." I love being able to look out of my window every morning and see the hills, unless it's foggy. BTW, anyone fancy doing the "Three Peaks Trial Challenge" with me in March, sponsored for AYME? It'a Skirrid Fawr, Sugar Loaf and Blorenge, 23 miles, I think? Hoping to get a group of at least 4 together, especially one whn can map read! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

We have two churches here, built when this estate was built (1960s to accomodate workers transferred from London) and with what they wanted - two churches - no pubs - anyway the Methodist chuch has a stained glass window with that in Psalm 121 I learned it at primary school 'I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.My help cometh not from the Lord...

    Evening all,

I have had a very quick skim read -
valli & soappie - nice houses another here who needs to win money first.

pigpen - your kids are def trying you this weekend, although I can feel for your DD I was the same age when first tried drinking with older friends and got into a lot of trouble still remember getting the row so hope she learns as well

lil-me - I live withthe motto never look back - you can day dream how things may have been but they will never be as good as what you have esp with kids involved but no harm in quietly thinking what if...

Triker - nice to see you back, sorry to here that Disney wasnt good and that you didnt enjoy your flights, hope your OH doesnt need too many more dentist appts to get everything sorted.

i have been painting today in the hope of getting doors tomorrow, 3 rooms have had all skirtings and door frames sanded & glossed (we have only been here since in the end of May and this job has kept being put off)

Heading to bed now but need to find my list in the morning as see what needs done.

I got so fed up of myself for smoking!
It is such a stoopid thing to do!:o
So I have just gone cold turkey!
And it was costing me at least £30 a week!:o
And I have also given up having a glass or 2 of wine a night, because once a bottle was open, it was going to be finished!!!!:o So thats another £20 a week!

So all in all I hope to save at least £50 A WEEK from giving up those nasty habits!:T:A:D:j

Whatever makes you quit, it's great that you have an incentive. I realised I don't have one... I don't buy my own cigarettes as I average 2 a week and nick them from my team (if they give up, I probably will  ), and the wine is part of my benefits package from work, so unless I find something else I want, there's no cost incentive to drink less (I get a case per quarter, so its not a huge quantity).

Good luck with it... cutting out the wine should make the quitting smoking easier.

I have a dictionary of surnames and it tells you the distribution. The one I have now is Old English (son of Wilkin) common (and lots of Wilkins had sons...)

Pink - can you PM me details? I am renowned for my map reading skills. (Which is why I argue so much with my sat nav!) I need to get back into serious walking again and a challenge like that would give me a target..

By the way (in case it ever happens to you) DSs memory stick went for a bit more drying out hung on the maiden near the radiator. It is now FULLY FUNCTIONAL. All files present and correct!
This is the second thing (of his funnily enough) that I have dried, gently, patiently and slowly and restored to full health. Mind you the memory stick was in the WM for 3 hours
He is training for a government job is DS losing/ruining mem sticks - I think he is fully trained!:rotfl:

As a general rule, it's not water that causes problems, but sugar - so if you spill water on a keyboard, turn it upside down and leave it on the radiator to dry out. If you spill coffee on it, rinse with water and dry out. If you take sugar in your coffee, it's unlikely to survive, but worth trying to rinse out.

and yes the twisted spire be where she lives, well not literally but close by

The twisted spire town - when I had a holiday in them there parts nearly a couple of years ago, I drove into the twisted spire town. There were roadworks as I approached and cones all around. There was a long stretch of cones on the left hand side which were all twisted - just like the spire which was prominent in the background! I burst out laughing and, if I knew where I could have parked safely, I would've gotten out of the car and photographed them!
