You rip off merchant! I'd have done it for £17.99 and thrown in Zone Alarm or Comodo firewall for free as well!0 -

Have you got any system restore points? if you installed a antivirus after removing macafee now and rollback you will have to reinstall it again.

Yes, error appears when I try to connect to internet, have just finished downloading Avira...thanks... but not sure what you mean by system restore points?0

So you can still connect to the internet as you just downloaded Avira what does the error say?0

Ok, as I mentioned before and has just been also mentioned. Do a system restore as per this link....
Shows and tells you haw to do a restore and it should restore prior to Mcflee being installed....
Good luck.0 -
I can only connect to internet via BitComet, all my normal routes come up with error message "Internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close" If I click on the error it says error signature AppName: iexplore.exe ??? Not sure if this means anything or not?0

JVR.. You need to do a system restore to the point prior to installing mcflee as per my post and the other users post prior... Should work.. I had to do that with my fathers PC a few months ago...0

Nice one guys, just completed the system restore, not sure what I was expecting but really quite painless and hey presto all is back to normal, shall go and re-download Avira now.
Thanks everyone:beer:0 -
Have to say I had this about 6 months ago on my fathers PC after he had done an update.. It was a NIGHTMARE to remove totally and a few days later I had to use a restore point alhough the site you linked with the removal tool on it (scroll down/up) may work better....
As long as the user is happy with onecare, each to his own, personally I like Nortons 2008 (hate 2009 version) and Sygate firewall, but this debate could go on for a while and not help get mcflee off the system...
Try the removal tool linked by alienrik and see how that goes....
HAPPY isnt quite the word id say for security. It would be better if it was upto date on virus updates, user friendly and light on resources.
Onecare isnt very good for actual security I believe
By the way, sygate updates stopped a LONG time ago. Your computers at risk using it!:idea:0
