Elizium, where are you in the UK? A company I work for does digital printing as a bit of a sideline and could probably do you leaflets for a good price if you are near here (hampshire/wiltshire/dorset border).0

definately make sure you are getting the right amount of tax credits. As your household income has dropped your tax credits may well go up, that's call number one tommorrow morning. Then ask the council for a housing benefit application form (will be calculated on the LHA other people have mentioned.) Then go through and cancel anything you can, sky tv etc, these aren't as important as the roof over your head. See if you can get any extra work whilst work is so little for your husband. Maybe he could also find some bar work or something a couple of evenings, that way he'll keep the day times free for any plumbing work that comes in, but he'll also feel like he's bringing in some extra for this period. Finally stay calm, there will be a way round.Riding out the receession.........0

I really just want to say that I'm sorry about the situation that you are in
If your income drops because your husband is not working, then what you are entitled to will increase. Plus the new tax year is not so far away:T so CTC and other benefits will be recalcuated on your reduced income for 09/10.
I'm a Landlady and if my tenants couldn't pay their rent then I would really want them to tell me. I would hope that they could get LHA benefits and would help them to apply. To be honest, they are such good tenants that I would consider reducting the rent to help them out, not because we are rich, but I'm on BBR+1.75% mortgage and this has gone down.. What's your Landlord like?
In your case I think that once you find out how much you are entitled to you may just be able to pay your rent.
Could you post back once you have worked out your 'benefits' and let us know?:j I hope my comment helps :T0 -

Another thought for your OH - is he on trademen lists with the local letting agencies? If not, they should be his first port of call with a business card to put in their books. Good for those "premium" emergency jobs. They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0
