Experiences with "poke talk" for free int'l calls?

Just register with an e mail address and make landline calls to anywhere in the world. Each call can only last for ten minutes but you can call again straight away. It works, I've tried it!

Are you sure you can call anywhere in the World for free ?

List of free destinations suggests otherwise.

Well, it suits me (the GL's sister lives in Spain and that's on the list).

All I've got to do now is get her to stop talking after 10 minutes. Now that's not going to be easy ........:rolleyes:

A phone-call under an hour is pointless.

In December, Poketalk increased the total number of monthly calls from 50 to 100.

Sometimes the line quality is good. Sometimes the line quality is very bad (fragments of the conversatin are lost, which almost makes it unusable.) My impressen is that this depends on the number you are calling.

I've just seen it mentioned on another forum.

Their website says:

"When ready to make a call, place the number you want to dial as well as your own, and then PokeTalk takes over and does the rest of the work for you! After pressing call, your phone will ring instantly and then automatically you will be connected to the person you are dialing. All domestic and international calls are totally free because costs against them are paid by advertising revenue generated on the PokeTalk web site."

Is this too good to be true or am I just overly cautious? :rolleyes:

I used it to order my Thai takeaway on Friday evening (to a UK number, not Thailand).

It worked exactly as they describe - but the call quality was terrible.

It works as it says on the Tin but the call quality is very variable.

Sorry to change the original question a bit...

Has anyone used it to call 08xx numbers in the UK? Could be useful when you can't find the 01/02/03 alternative...

You can only use it to call landline (geographical) numbers in the UK.
