I agree - life is too short to argue over a faulty product and lost receipt.
Buy a new one and take the old one back with the receipt you get. (Providing they are still selling the item?)
The only problem is that you'll still be without a receipt for your new one, but there's not much that you can do about that.
to get round this could you not pay for the "new 1" on credit/debit card then take the "faulty 1" back with receipt for refund and you still have a card statement saying you bought said item on a certain day,0 -

I guess so - it certainly beats some of the other, more bizarre suggestions on this thread!"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
You need to be able to prove the purchase - not necessarily the receipt. Witness evidence may well be sufficient if push comes to shove.
Yes, I can see it now.
I bought this tv from you a week ago and it is faulty.
Manager shrugs shoulders. "Do you have the receipt?"
No, I lost it.
Manager shrugs shoulders again and says "Tough, can't do nowt without a receipt"
I turn to my friend..You saw me buy it didn't you Sheila.
Sheila nod's.
Manager now stops shrugging shoulders. "Well, that makes all the difference, why didn't you say that in the first place, follow me for a full cash refund?"0 -

Which bit of "if push comes to shove" do you not understand?
Unless you can hold a sensible debate about the laws of evidence in civil procedure, don't bother with useless posts.0 -

Not everyone is taking or has done the BVC or LPC...you could look at things more lightheartedly:beer:
you may also find it easier to prove the item was purchased from Currys, if the item was a Currys exclusive e.g. Akura or similar...or even better still, most electrical retailers have identification stickers on the box, when I was in retail, some of these stickers even contained the stock information, i,e, when the item was delivered to the store from central warehousing...all proving the item came from Currys...I'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j
Those who can do, those who can't, come to me for lessons:cool:0 -

I will continue to bother with useless posts, you are, of course free to ignore them.
While you are at it wind in your neck.
Dont let my inane drivel give you high blood pressure and leave me to my immature ways. You are very easy to reel in and my line is cast.
As they say in the good old U S of A. Have a nice day.0 -

Does there need to be a point with inane drivel?
