anyone used screw fix direct?

  • My husband and I use them a lot. So much so that at work there is a communal list to avoid the delivery charge. As soon as it gets to the amount needed the order is put in. Great way to avoid delivery charges and talk about projects you are doing with your work colleagues.

Occasional delivery has slipped to the next day, but apart from that they've been great. Would recommend them.

    Hi,

We bought a worktop from them a couple of months back. We are very happy with their product (went for the black granite effect). However the manufacturer mislaid our original order. So we had to wait another week before we received it. You shouldn't have any problems tho.

FYI, screwfix also have the special worktop jigsaw blades if you need to cut the worktop.

    Best of luck

    Dave

As everyone says Screwfix are very good - they were sold to B&Q in 1999 but as far as I can tell the move was seemless.
Unbelievably the guys from Screwfix have been allowed to open Toolstation - https://www.toolstation.com
This is a very much restricted supply of stuff but the prices are even better than Screwfix.
I now use Toolstation for most of the bits I get but they don't do worktops or offer £10 referrals.

Screwfix are good, I've been using them for years. In all that time - only one item wrong, they sent the correct one out for next day - and told me to just keep the wrong thing (which I did'nt want anyway).

The only moan would be the delivery - dont always expect to get it next day, despite being in a metropolitian area - they only get around 80% of my orders delivered nextday.

    Generally an 8/10
  • I placed an order last week early Monday evening. Item arrived Tuesday morning. Very quick if you ask me.

we have used in the past, very pleased.only problem was they delivered to next door, who forgot to tell us, when I phoned them they told me exactly where it was delivered to, not screwfix's fault at all, very courteous and helpful

Small stuff that can be packed in boxes is ok...big stuff gets damaged in transit.
They will take anything back thats damaged, but its a pain waiting for another delivery to find thats damaged too !
They have never delivered a copper pipe yet thats not been damaged in some way or another.

    rob :D

I have used them many times, good service but do tend to send small items in BIG box's, or small items in false bottomed box's, you think the box is empty until you discover the extra compartment

Hi, I would thoroughly recommend screwfix.

I burnt out my Erbauer SDS drill the other week. Although under 2 year warranty I expected the usual excuses but received a new drill the following day together with a 'free' full set of SDS drills and chisels for the inconvenience. They also arranged the courier collection of the old drill.

I have used many screwfix items on my current property development and had no probs. I order everything from taps to coving. Their £185 bathroom suite is good quality and comes with a steel bath !!

I do hear of delivery issues but that is mostly (99.9%) due to couriers. Likewise I do find their packing a bit odd - small items in a big box with tons of bubble wrap but so far no items damaged in transit. All my orders have been achieved the next working day. Overall the prices and quality are very good so I am in the process of setting up a trade account.

PS has anyone bought and used their new Sirrus condensing boilers ??
