well i hope i have done this right :o

mum lives with us and pays for the utilities (gas/water/elec) and splits tv/phone/internet costs with us in lieu of rent.

Ok with cutting back and maybe taking responsibility for all the household bills may help. You could then ask your Mum to pay a monthly rent amount. At the moment I would guess she is only paying approx £180 per month. I personally think you could ask for more than that off her. Then with reduced utility bills and internet etc it would pay off more debt.

With the £10,000 I would pay off Capital One, Natwest and Tesco credit cards. Have the rest of either sitting as back up or get rid of the buy now pay later thing. By paying the 3 I have mentioned it will give you a spare £210 a month off your defiit.

    Good luck

Mum is only on a pension, so asking for her to start paying more is not going to happenas she does not have it. besides she has scrimped and saved to bring me up since Dad died so i would rather go without than ask her for anything else. She is a star and helps us so much already, i am extremely grateful to have a mum as good as her.

I understand what you mean about the utility bills getting reduced, at present its a case of better the devil you know as its a set amount each month, so very good for budgeting wise, once things settle down we will look into this.

    thanks

Hi -apologies if I have missed the point, but was your RSI caused by what you were doing at work? If this was the case perhaps you might have a claim against your employer?

I believe you might be able to get 1/2 hour free legal advice in UK but not entirely sure. Perhaps somebody else could comment.

    Wishing you luck.

    hiya,

well thats a sore point literally!, already received legal advice, from 2 solicitors, and both advised the same, that to actually get a medical expert to put hand on heart and say yes the condition was caused by work will be like looking for gold dust. and without this the case wouldnt get anywhere.

Sorry I'm a bit confused, you are saying that the internet is already lumped in with the line rental. If it is then you should not be showing it under two seperate places. I'm reading it that your telephone line rental and calls is £22 per month and then internet is being billed seperately by a different company for £30 per month. Is your SKY/TV cost a cable service or sky.

If OH works for Orange could he not get free internet via a dongle. Then it would only cost you the price of the dongle.

apologies if there has been confusion.

telephone (inc all calls) and internet = £40 per month approx give or take a few pounds. this is supplied by virgin (cable)

tv is provided by sky as we had far too much trouble with virgin to list here.

yes DH could get free broadband if we had a BT line but as we dont we cannot, he cannot get the broadband free through a dongle.

He has got a dongle that he uses at work for a studying course that he is doing as he is not allowed to use their networks to connect online, that cost £8 per month and has to small a download limit to use at home also instead of the cable internet.

as i said i have never done a SOA before so im not surprised i made a few mistakes :o :rotfl:

    HTH :D

  • Ok I'm not sure maybe post on the telephones section. But I thought the £129 from BT was if there was no line in the property at all or it had previously been cut off. The fact you have a line in there it must be going to an exchange somewhere so I think BT would be able to take over the line. It's worth checking out.

Don't worry about making mistakes in the soa. I still get mine wrong. I actually have a sheet that shows the date that everything is coming in and going out and I still make mistakes. But it is easier for me to see that I need shopping and petrol on a Friday but money doesn't go in until Monday. I then have to get minimum stuff to cover over the weekend and get the rest on the monday.

    Broke,

I think when pebbles says 'landline' she is referring to the Virgin cable, not an actual BT landline. :) I've had NTL TV, internet and phone ina previous houseshare, and we always used to call it the 'landline', even though there was no BT line to the house. :)

Pebbles, if you haven't checked with BT already, it might be worth a call to them, as I had a quick look at their website regarding the connection chanrge and it says "Most of our new customers find they don't need to pay this charge." If you already have a physical line to the house, then it's very unlikely you have to pay it - I didn't when I moved into my current house, I just had to get it reactivated, which was free. If you don't have a phyisical line, might be worth checking with them anyway, just in case you don't have to pay anyway. I think they'd have to do a survey to confirm (they don't mention a charge for that), but you may as well ask if you haven't. :)

Bear in mind you'd have to start paying service charges to BT for the line, though...

    Hi,

does anyone know how long it will take for the cc comps to get intouch in regards to our letter offering a token payment per month?? just had a letter from asda (ge consumer credit) politely saying that due to a technical error they werent able to take this months dd, and that they will take it on the 26th (dd is cancelled), hhmm they may have trouble there!

DH has got the basic account at barclays, so we going to start transferring all DD and wages etc over there

  • Hi

I'm new to these forums, this is my first post !!

I'm really sorry to hear how bad things are for you but I think it's really important that you are trying to deal with this and not burying your head in the sand. So many other people do this and only seem to wake up to their situation when it is too late and they lose their home.

I just noticed one thing re TV licence. While I realise that you don't pay yourself currently, if your mum is over 75 she should be eligible to a free licence. Not sure what the arrangement is with your relative who pays your licence currently, but perhaps they could put that money towards an alternative bill ?

    Chin up and best wishes
