I think that that's a great story, and nice to think that people didn't take the p*ss and nick everything! *feels warm and fuzzy inside*

Surprised no one called the Police, remember seeing one of those crime investigation programs, where a store was found open but with no staff. One customer finally reported it to the cops and when the in-store security camera was replayed it showed loads of customers leaving cash and finally the image of the store clerk being abducted.

The shop is in Settle a small town, where everyone knows everyone else and their business. Don't think it would work as well in Chav City.

lovely part of the country there

Nice to know there are still areas like that around. makes me think there is hope.

If you tried it round here you would be shopping for a new honesty box next day.

Even if a bit of stuff was nicked (assuming a minor proportion), it would be counter-balanced by the saving in wages...

Our local farm shop has an honesty box,you choose what you want and then write it in the book.Sometimes the box is full of notes, but everyone around here seems to be trustworthy. Its nice to be able to trust people.
