Cat scratching car

Hi all,
Some of you may have seen in another thread my comments on this but if not... my next door neighbour has several cats, very friendly and nice, but I bought a new Mini in September and one of their cats keeps jumping up on the bonnet, onto the roof and lays out, scratching its claws on my car! If i go out and chase it off, the cat panics to get off the car and I get even more scratches. I dont really get on with my neighbour as she was incredibly rude to my partner on several occasions and on the one occasion that she was rude to me thats been it, we've not talked since. I know its not like the cat is taking the paint off my car, but its still leaving small scratches and its the principle that it shouldn't be on my car in the first place. It doesnt matter if I park the car outside on the road, or on my drive, the cat just makes a beeline for it. Is there anything I can do to stop this cat? Apologies if this sounds like an obsessed car owners problem!

it sounds as if your neighbours need to get their cat's nails clipped - a cat's nails should not protrude so much as to scratch objects that they walk on.
despite the fact that you are not talking to your neighbour i would somehow point out this fact, and the damage being caused and kindly request they trim their cats claws. it is goig to sound beyond petty - but it will be less expensive for them than having to pay for a respray!0 -
I think the cat is actually clawing the roof? Like how they stretch out & do it?0
-
think its clawing to get a grip of something when its jumping up/ jumping down, its leaving horrible little marks though! I have thought about asking them but I think it would end in a huge bust up and as shes old (in comparison to me, she not ancient or anything) she may have a heart attack due to the excitement of a row with the neighbours as nothing else seems to interest her. (sorry, that was a bit of letting off steam hehe)0

oh i see...the little !!!!!!!
the OP could try rubbing eucalyptus or citrus oil on the roof....not sure what effect this would have on the roof though!0 -

hmm maybe try watching out for it, does it mainly jump on when you just get home? Some like a warm bonnet, mind you you did say it's the roof. What about those car covers people put on sometimes? Or at least I think I remember an ex having one, I know motorbikes do. If you see it about to jump make a loud noise or chuck water over it (Not cruel even though it sounds it).0

Its not cruel? Oh thank god. I was holding back telling you all the other part of the story... I parked in front of the house once and my bedroom window is facing out the front of the house. I saw it one morning on my car and filled up a jug of water.... my front door is below the bedroom window and the door has a kinda wooden canopy thing over it to stop anyone getting wet in the rain ( i live in a terraced house too i forgot to mention) ANYWAY i got to the bedroom window, opened it and aimed at the cat, unfortunately i missed and it hit the top of the canopy, the water bouncing onto next doors lawn...then I heard a scream... I don't think I need to tell you the rest! Pure accident though, didnt know she was watering her plants at the time!0 -
The citrus thing doesn't work for all cats.
See Ted to the left, his fav yogurts were amour orange:rolleyes:
Get a supersoaker, keep it filled with cold water. Every time you catch him there give him a good blast of cold water. Better still if he doesn't see you doing this & thinks it happens automatically;)0 -
a supersoaker? Is that a water pistol? I've got a pressure washer but I think that may be a tad extreme!
Those yoghurts are my fave too, spanish orange mmmmm.0
