Well I've been out and thought I would pop into the showrooms of the new estate here (archers gate its called in Amesbury) and see what they are upto
They have 3 bedrooms on at 190k 200k....The nice lady was giving me the usual sale pitch and then I said I would offer 100k on one of the showrooms (3 bed mit garage)
And she didn't even say no.... no shocked look.....she just said we would have to negotiateIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0 -

Surely no-one looks to buy a house, go around viewings etc if they do not have an approved mortgage in place??
Solicitors take their time, you would still be waiting. I would not give any discount if a cash buyer come up against a FTB for the sale of my house.
That's just me, you may of course think otherwise0 -

Based on what?
Average UK household income is £37k, multiply this by 3.5 and you have £130k. Add on the 10% deposit required and you then have affordability ITRO £144k.
Check out this post on the HPC forum. Someone's done up a graph on house prices overlayed with the affordability index.

I can just imagine, that i'll not agree with it though:rotfl: Hopefully he's not assuming 1x average wage at 3.5x multiple is enough to buy an average home.0 -

If people were so certain this was going to happen why didn't they bet? Of course it's all much easier with hindsight but sometimes you just have to put your money where your mouth is.
I had a punt on Ladbrokes that house prices would fall in 2008. Not paid out yet, but I'm due my cash <ker-ching>...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
