Thanks Both, I appreciate your words of support.
Ozzy - The lady went through all my outgoings first - non debt ones first like food, household bills etc. I did have a form to complete for myself from the National Debt Helpline but I was so affraid of missing something so I just filled in my debts as that was all i was sure about. The lady went through each element of life checking we hadnt missed anything out like dental appointment costs, contact lenses, birthdays etc. Everything is taken into account as they need to know you can live on this money.
She then took into account any secured debts and whats left after all of that (£409 in my case ) is what I will send to them each month and they will, once arrangments have been aggreed, they will pay to my creditors.
They did say I could pay them myself and try and make arrangements myself with their help but I wanted someone else to take control of it for me. Also due to the amount I owe and the amount left 'in the pot' so to speak, it would be best for them to try and make aggreements as they have more 'clout' sorry i couldnt find a better word for it.
I will get a pack in the post early next week confirming the breakdown and it will have all the letters in I need.
I hope my bank account can be sorted quickly, its good to hear your experience with that Ozzy - Thanks.
Keep smiling:jDebt Free At Last!:j0 -
thanks pixie
I have got my budget sheet but haven't worked out separate amounts for birthdays etc just put it all in the housekeeping section so I think I'd better break it down a bit more into individual costs.
I hope that they will negociate with my creditors too - I can see it being a complete nightmare if I do it!
Pleased to hear that you are having all the letters you need sent to you too.
Thanks you have been a great help
Good luck with the bank

hello pixie!
I had my telephone call with the CCCS aswell this morning just after you!
I also found them very helpful and hope to be debt free in 7 years (hopefully more if i can save some cash to pay to them every few months) problem is i am a temporary worker and don't get paid the same each week.
will definitely be looking for jobs!
Glad that you have a plan too0 -
Based on your original post, I have used the "Pro Rata" calculator that I created Click Here post #12 to work out what your payments should be to each of your outstanding debts:0

Thank you all!!
The cccs re-did my income v outcome today, I only have £409 left to pay people with but they seem confident enough that people will accept my offers

Hi Pixie
I am in exactly the same position as you with about £30000 of debt. My husband is unaware also and I just can't tell him at the moment. Initially I contacted a debt management company but after reading postings on the Forum I decided to contact Payplan yesterday and shall be going through a full financial review on Tuesday. I too am paying for food because everything I pay in as my share of household costs is currently used to pay off some of my debts.
I just want to get back in control of the situation. What scares me most is how easy it was to get into this situation.Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts - DFW Nerd 323

Good for you Pixie. I would change your mobile number and not give it to your creditors. They will have no reason to call you when your DMP is up and running.
Tip of the day, treat yourself to something nice. Maybe a soak in a bubble bath or something really nice to eat.
Love youself you did really well.

Hi Pixie,
The way you have taken both responsibility and control of your situation is fantastic!
I hope that you are very proud of yourself. I'm sure that. in time, when you choose to tell your husband how you have taken action, he will be proud of you too.
Take it one step at a time, It'll all work out in the end.
In the meantime, look on the Freebies- no spend required board! There are loads of goodies to be had on there and it's great to look forward to the postman coming again.... with lots of free treats!
Keep posting.

Hi pixie :hello:
Well done you! It must have been so scary when you had your lightbulb moment  , but a great relief to have someone nice to talk to at the CCCS, especially after dealing with so many credit companies out for what they can get!
There are gonna be some hard days ahead when the light at the end of the tunnel seems a long way off, but remember - that light is getting closer every day. Fix your mind on it, and any time you're feeling low, think back to how things were before you sorted them (those unopened bills, unanswered phone calls, sleepless nights). It'll *never* be like that again now. Take care & keep posting - you're an inspiration to others.
