I have a little spare time before I go to work, so I thought I would do some maths relating to my bank account move - this is copied and pasted from what I posted earlier on a thread on the old Halifax Moneyback account:

Just logged in to the A&L site and they have given me a £700 overdraft. Probably because I have available (not used) overdrafts of £3400 with Halifax :rotfl:

I have an overdraft of £720 on the account I'm moving, so this actually works out quite well for me. I shall look forward to seeing how this move goes as I have never changed a bank account before!

If this all works out, I should make the following from this switch:
    • £100 welcome from A&L
    • £84 Moneyback from Halifax
    • £50 cashback from Quidco
    • £25 for recommending my friend who also wants to move from Halifax/Bank of Scotland
If all these incentives are paid, that will be a total of £259 :D

I really hope that all of this comes off! I have about £200 paid into a savings account to clear some of my overdraft at the moment, which will leave about £500 to clear. If all of these incentives are paid, that will half what I owe!!!!!!!!!!

I think a smiley is in order...

    Hi guys,

I have had another really good DFW day - and a NSD to boot :j

I called up Orange with all intentions of cancelling my contract, but I have been having second thoughts about the Dialaphone one anyway - these cashback deals seem to be hard to claim for (Unless you're really organised!) and I think if I get an iPod I will need more than 16gb storage. So, with this in mind I called them and said "You can't give me a deal that's good enough to make me stay". So, my new deal is:

    • Double the minutes and texts I'm on at the moment
    • Half price line rental compared to what I have now - £15 per month :j I was happy with £30 :D
    • New phone. It's not the best phone ever, but I can always sell it as mine still works fine :rotfl:
    • £100 airtime credit. So, once I pay the first £15 bill, my future bills will be deducted from this £100 credit, meaning I should get free mobile for about 6 months.
    • I figure this will save me 18 months x £15 (Monthly saving compared to current deal) or £270 + the £100 airtime credit, so it works out as a slightly better deal.
    • I get to keep my number and my two for one Orange films on Wednesdays
Next month is my no council tax month and I will be paying about £70 less than I budgeted for on my mortgage too (Woo, base rate cuts!) so if I want an iPod that badly I can go and buy one.

*slinks off to check prices of iPods with cashback on Quidco*
  • Wow F-F, thats a mega deal.... way better than all the hassle of trying to claim the cash back!

34194.gif34194.gif34194.gif Closest I had on my smileys list :rotfl:

Couple of other DFW things while I remember - got £20 Asda voucher through Ipoints today, which is awesome as I am close to the bone on the budget pre-payday :D And my mum sent me £10 to pay for a cardigan I bought, I had paid for this out of my groceries money in the meantime, so it's now at a healthy £17 with 1 week and 2 days until payday and with cupboards which aren't bare yet :rotfl:

    Morning all

Copy and paste list time again for me :rotfl:

    Today I have done/will do:

    • [strike]Check online banking[/strike] Still on track to be as overdrawn this month as I was last month (This is good! Living within my means is quite new to me still!)
    • [strike]Make PAD[/strike] I can't wait until payday - 23rd - or until my Ebay/Amazon sales start coming through :rotfl:
    • Breakfast and dinner at home
    • Take lunch to work (Yummy leftovers!) I still haven't made the chilli, but I think I will do this later in the week :D
    • Go to see Slumdog Millionaire using my free cinema pass for me and my 2for1 Orange Wednesdays for t'other half. There are six of us going, three with monthly passes, so none of us should have to pay :rotfl:
    • Buy sweets at lunchtime to take to the cinema
    • Have a look at the Boots sale in my local Boots as the website hates me!
Have a lovely day all, not long till the weekend now!

I got my i-Pod from Additions Catalogue. It cost £179 and I got it on their 3-months interest free credit option. I know it's perhaps not very money saving but as I said, it's interest free for three months. They also sent me a code to use that got me £30 off it, so I got it for £149. When they sent me my first statement I noticed that they hadn't applied the discount so I paid the first installment of £58 then rang them, then somehow they re-jigged my bill to apply the discount, however when my second statement came, my interest free period had extended by a further month so I actually got four months interest free credit LOL.

I love my i-pod by the way, I spend loads of time hanging around for kids, and we're allowed to wear them at work when we're doing a particularly boring job
    Start Date: 27/11/2010
    Padding: Day 42
    Target £8000
    Amount: £562.23

The site wouldn't work for me this morning before work, so I went on my lunchbreak (Practically ran to the shopping centre!)

    I got:

Ruby & Millie vanity case thing with eyeshadow compact, lip compact, brushes and nail polish - £8.56 saving of £25.70 (!)

    No & Eye & Brow kit - £4.89 saving of £14.69

Wash kit thing for men - £3.67 saving of £11.01

Brush set in wrap - £2.93 saving of £8.82

Credit card holder - £1.95 saving of £5.88

    Pot pourri - £1.95 saving of £5.88

Football mug (For t'other half, and he loves it!) £1.71 saving of £5.14

Total spent - £27.51, not bad. *ahem* Total saving £78.97 :j:j:j

The Ruby and Millie case and No 7 case are for me, and as I couldn't buy 2 Ruby & Millie brushes for what the case cost I'm quite happy! The other things are for presents throughout the year for people, and have saved me a fortune!

I have never realised there was a 75% off sale at Boots in previous years (probably because MSE folk have gotten there before me!) but I will be looking out for it again!

Need to drink my tea and run to the pictures now, have a lovely night all:D
