  • ooo...yay on the viewing and the ability to do spreadsheets on the laptop!! I have no idea how to do them so I just make glorified lists :rotfl:
re: the wills- it did feel a bit morbid to think about, but I just know how strongly I feel on my stuff going where/to who I want it to rather than anyone having to deal with that on top of me not being there...
lovely mortgage balance too ...getting mine under 100K would be a bonus!!

Will has been written, if I disappear from this site I been bumped off by one of the people in the will. In the end with 20% VAT  it cost £99.

Now have some some stuff to read about "living" wills, which is what you want to happen if you have an accident v quality of life. This would be another £55

Also to set up power of attorny that would cost £300 (think I'll leave that a while as don't think I'm la la yet)

:T News - BF has 2nd viewing on house this weekend (this is the furthest we have ever gotten), they are bringing the in-laws as they are providing the deposit. So 2 weeks in a row BF house will be spick and span. I'm going to see if they can come round every week even if they don't buy ours/his
    Mortgage Aug 12 £165K, Aug 19 £0
    ISA challenge start 2019 £3000/£1500 (50%)

    Hi Radish :)

Well done on writing your Will, I'll have to do mine this year. £99 in total is a good price!

Re Living Wills - the main thing to remember about them is that even when written by a solicitor they can be overrulled by a health professional i.e ambulance, hospitial etc.

Re Powers of Attorney - £300 seems an amzing price but I assume that this is for one of the Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA's ) either Financial or Health?

Sorry if this is too much info :o But let me know if you want anymore. I'm only a secretary so its only the very basic stuff I can help with.

Hope viewing goes well this weekend

Just thought I should pop out of lurkdom to comment on the power of attorney - £300 is way ott!!! Don't pay it!

You can download the forms from direct.gov and complete them yourself - very easy (there is a guidance form and faq's) - I did them for my grandma/aunt/parents and it only took about 20 mins to do (once you have decided what you want to happen i.e. be kept on life support or not etc) and you only need to pay a fee when you register it (which can be done now or in the future).

Hope the 2nd viewing goes well - and enjoy BF's tidy house!

So 2nd week of the year over

Viewing went well, bloke was planning the extension as wife is planning child number 2. The mum and dad where a bit negative but in the way that they are looking out for the daughter, or their money. It is between ours and another which is 3 bed (which is more money). We Rightmoved the other house and made sure to mention all the positives that we had that the other house didn't especially that we are in a cul-de-sac with a front garden and the other house is straight onto the main road - not good with kids

No alcohol or crisps eaten, but we did go out for a meal last night, went for healthier choices than normal so we shall see what the scales say tomorrow

Need to catch up with ringing friend this week and write letters (so I meet Jan targets)

Dad has also been recommended to get a pace-maker, so waiting for an appointment for that. He needs one as it is one of his "out" valves that is damaged and can't open in time with the "ins" so the pacemaker will regulate the damaged valve. Think it will be a pacemaker that will be on the outside with just wires going in

Work, need to make all my travel arrangements this week for my trip abroad in Feb, plus haven't kept on top of emails/job list

Oh and I have dropped £5K of the asking price for my house..............
