  • Hello, was wondering if anyone could give me some advice? I put in my application with CCCS and joined the long long waiting list. In all the waiting Ive gotten really paranoid about my application being rejected. Whats classed as wreckless spending? Will the OR go through all statements from my creditors to see if Ive been wreckless? I dont think Ive done anything particularly stupid or wasted tons of money but I might not have been completely sensible along the way.

Also is it really going to take 6-8 weeks! I put it in 3 weeks ago so do they count the 6-8 weeks from the date they receive it?

Ive had to send letters about token payments to all my creditors as they are literally hounding me! Ive bitten off all my nails with anxiety. Its such an awful process.

Hi, i too worried about increased hounding. Im at the v.beginning stage-saw c.a.b on monday. After the initial 'aaah' factor- im now so worried+ dreading the procedure especially as its going to be around may before my dro submitted.
Do i pass on future letters to my worker at the c.a.b? Refer phone calls to him.
Although still stressed out-even more so than 'head in sand' a part of me feels positive for accepting my debt + trying to sort it!! Scared but positive-strange combination! X

Yes and yes! Is he doing an Experian check on you? Is the delay due to the £90 fee?

I also worry what is regarded as wreckless spending-im not overworried BUT would we have to justify everything ie provide receipts for EVERY penny spent! On a good day i buy a 'news' paper-20p-as a 'treat'.

Saw a debt specialist via apt after 3 week wait. Had to take a financial statement-v.v. Tedious to do 'facing denials etc'. C.a.b worker suggested dro-signed forms etc-now waiting upon 'review of apt' letter.!

I had my DRO approved last month and from my experience I didn't have to justify every penny I've spent, I also don't believe that the IS saw my bank/credit card statements, I believe these were just so the advisor who was helping me apply could get account numbers and balance owed etc.

The only way I see it being a problem is if you had taken out credit recently then a creditor may appeal against the DRO (they have 30 days in which to do this). It would then be down to the IS to decide whether to investigate this and whether it would cause the DRO to be rejected anyway.

Its so difficult to not worry isn't it, the 48hrs (after the application had been submitted) wait I had to find out whether it had be approved was horrible, made worse by the application being submitted on a friday, then found out on the Tuesday!
  • I have recently had the misfortune of having to call the CCCS because i am behind on my bills. I came off the phone like a different person they are the best free service i've come ever come accross. Do not become a victim of cowboy debt management companies who charge you fees as part of their amazing plan, the fact that you went to them for help as your outgoings were more per month than your income is irrelevant.

Statements are only taken as we need to provide them with account numbers/references, as accurate as possible balances and the company details when the DRO application is made. They aren't sent to the IS. They get all the info they need from the credit report.

  • Hi. could someone please remind me: Is the credit check done when you first speak to Debt councilor to decide if youre suitable for a DRO, or is it the intermediary who does this when actually filing the DRO?? thanks :)

Hey I got a form to send off for a free credit report from the lady (From CAB) who is dealing with myself regarding my DRO application on the 1st interview (if that helps at all?)
