What the OP choses to do is up to them. In light of poster(s) suggesting that the OP not disclose this debt to the DRO unit, I'm simply giving a contrasting POV and giving my reason for it0 -
ok immoral fair enough....but there are a few on this forum who have had dro's.....posting on other threads and boasting about what they have bought, costing hundreds of pounds...also not declaring to the OR about there full income, and bragging that they have "quite enough to live on thankyou very much ".....they are the ones that need their dro's revoking....it really annoys me when there are genuine people out there who desperately need help but are just over the limit, and then there are others who are just laughing in the OR's face..........
In theory scarlet you can get a loan while on a dro, you could actually get a budgeting loan while on benefits to the tune of £499 and you do not have to tell them about being under a DRO. it's only when you take out a loan over the £500 mark you are obliged to. So in theory you could go out and spend 100's of pounds on whatever....
Mind you i am not sure if you would have to declare it if you brought one item over £300 which i think it asks you if you have in the origional application.0 -
Is it against the rules NOT to disclose a debt..? I always thought that if you didn't you would still be liable for it...?
Mind you i would suppose you would get people with say 17k of debt not disclosing one or two just to get themselves under the 15k mark if it were that, then just paying the other couple of "K" off...0 -

Hi all, I have 2 agree with u Scarlet. I find it fascinating when people post an SOA which includes their debt repayments, leaving them a surplus of less than £50. Then miracle of miracles when they realise it's 2 be done without including the debts, the next SOA appears.............NOT showing a surplus of their debt payments + the small surplus from their 1st (does that make sense) I know every system probably gets abused...............but it doesn't make it right.I am a Leo...& as such I will defend my "pride" ferociously....you have been warned!0 -

True, but then hasn't everyone here given advice where you would say to someone that something looks a bit too high to lower that but then increase something else..? Is that not the same thing..? I think everyone here is guilty of that.:p0 -

No, thats not the same thing. I'm talking about say an SOA where the debt payments were listed as eg. £450 pmth. Then when advice is taken an the 2nd SOA is posted this £450 disappears. I kno we've all taken/given advice on say phone costs been 2 high, groceries been 2 low & off setting them against each other, or say putting gifts under another catergory. But I'm talking of large ammounts from a budget goin missing.I am a Leo...& as such I will defend my "pride" ferociously....you have been warned!0 -
this was my understanding aswell......unless it takes you over the £15000 threshhold......there have been posters who have owed say £18000 but by some miracle a relative has come 4ward to pay this debt......i wish i had relatives like that......do i sound annoyed.....thats because i am......
U've opened a right can of worms..........:DI am a Leo...& as such I will defend my "pride" ferociously....you have been warned!0 -
