Was hoping some kind soul would be able to help me with 3 questions re my DRO which was granted last July,
1. My DRO was approved in July 2010. IIn November I got a letter from the council saying I owed £240 council tax from 1992/93, nearly 20 years ago! This is the first they have contacted me in at least 10 years, and I'm still at the same address etc. I was sure I had paid, but they want proof and my bank say they can't go back that far to check their records. I contacted the council and told them about my DRO, and also my ill health due to diabetes complications and depression, but they aren't interested and say it wasn't included in the DRO and I have to pay it. They say they also have Liability Order for this amount, issued in 1995, but I honestly have problems remembering last week never mind 15-20 years ago. I had bailiffs turn up last week at my mums house, and panicked and offered £10 per month which was accepted by the council. I have paid my first £10, but am unsure if I have done the right thing?
2. In July it will be 12 months since my DRO was approved. Is there a web site that tells me what I need to do next. I think I need to check my credit file or something, I presume my debts should stay on there for 6 years and also the DRO notice.
Thank you in advance for any advice you can give.

Hi there
Re the old council tax bill you will be liable for this and should continue to make payments as agreed. If this debt pushes your debt total over £15,000 then you should notify the DRO Unit at Plymouth Insolvency Service as it will mean your DRO will be revoked and you will become liable for all of your debts.0 -

From the DRO Intermediary Guidance notes regarding this "...... failure to disclose this additional debt may result in criminal and/or civil sanctions":rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -

..well it obviousely wasnt on his credit report, and anyway he hasnt said it would take him over the £1500 limit........
Credit reports are for credit debt - utilities, council tax and the like aren't listed there. Doesn't mean that the DRO unit won;t get to hear of it.
What the OP choses to do is up to them. In light of poster(s) suggesting that the OP not disclose this debt to the DRO unit, I'm simply giving a contrasting POV and giving my reason for it:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0
