im not 100% sure but as wba31 says go and see your cccs councillor and tell them you want to see the dro team...the one i saw at the cab office was fantastic...i was really nervous but there was no need...explain everything and they will sit down with you and go through it all...i wasnt sure what to put on my soa or even how much to put down for things...they will know what the trigger figures are and they will do it step by step with you..there was no-one more nervous than me but my dro is being put through on wednesday and i cant tell you how good it feels to be nearly at the end of my journey, and you will be the same im sure.xx:)
Thanks again Scarlet :A I can't see anyone at our CAB as they are running a restricted service & I've only dealt with the CCCS over the phone, I'm unsure whether or not they have a drop in centre or not. But you are absolutely right, it won't get better until I suck it up & admit what I've done. I thought about calling the NDL, but I wonder if starting from scratch with another service will lengthen the process
Did you print out your own credit report? I was just wondering which part of it you actually have to provide, is it the part with all your creditors on expanded to show your payment history?
Also do your bank statements & credit report all get sent with the DRO form or are they just for your advisor to confirm proof of income etc? Will I need a few photocopies, ie: ! for DRO office, 1 for the advisors records?
How long has it taken you to reach this point? Please let me know the outcome of your DRO & I'll keep all my fingers & toes crossed for you on Wednesday.
Thanks so much yet again, it's a comfort to be able to speak to someone going through the same issues xxxxI am a Leo...& as such I will defend my "pride" ferociously....you have been warned!0 -
hi broken spirit, just phone who you have been dealing with and explain that you want to do a dro....i went on-line and got a free 30 day credit report and printed off the whole sheet tthat listed my creditors and how much i owe, also my last months bank statement to prove your income, you only need 1 copy of each as my adviser just copied my credit report and then gave it back to me. i also printed a copy of the first page of my on-line banking...the 1 that just list your account and loans ect as this had all my balances on up to date...i did have a problem with my catalogue debt as i didnt know how much i owed and i could no longer access my account, but in my credit report it had the name of a debt company who had bought the debt, it also had a phone number so i phoned them up and just said i had been to CAB for advive on my debts and i needed to know how much i owed so i could come to an arrangment with them...as soon as i mentioned CAB they said ok fine we will give you 30 days to get back in touch (which gave me a bit of breathing space ) they then told me my balance....i know i told them a white lie but i didnt want any more interest being put on....iff theres anything else you need to know just ask...although i can only tell you from personal experience...xx

forgot to say how long its taken...well not long compared to some of the other threads iv read.....i phoned up the CAB on fiday 18th march and had an initial appointment on thursday 24th, they advised me that a dro would be my best option and i saw the dro adviser on tuesday 29th...she went through my soa and checked my bank statement and credit report, she then photocopied it and said everything looked ok....she then gave me my barcode to pay the £90 fee and i go back on wednesday to have it submitted so all in all its taken about 2 wks from my initial visit....one thing, when i first went and they advised me to do a dro they told me i must stop paying my creditors..this wasnt really a problem as all of them except one arn't due to be paid anyway untill after my dro is submitted so thankfully not loads of interest to go on...which wouldnt worry me but i am quite near to the £15,000 thresh-hold...hope this helps a bit more xx0

Thanks scarlet, i really appreciate your help.
In regards to the account i am using now, do i need to wait for it be closed or should i just stop using it?
And will they accept bank statements in my wifes name as this is where are benefits go. The part time job i have pay cash in hand so how do i go about that?0 -
you will need to get wage slips to prove how much you earn...i would imagine the bank statement would be fine...do you have joint debts at the bank where your benefits are paid...if so you will need to change banks before a dro goes through ...iv just opened one with co-op cashminder, i told them i was doing a dro and they were fine about it....but its just a basic bank account with no overdraft facility and no ccs...but if your like me you wont want any more debt anyway lol. i would phone the CAB up asap, they seem to be quicker than anyone for some reason (mine was anyway ) they will tell you what you need to take with you..;)0

broken_spirit wrote: »Thanks for your advice. Do I have to list all expenditure from my DLA individually with receipts or can it would it be suffice to list under the "other adult expenses" ? I just want to make sure I've prepared everything I can in advance, so I can get the ball rolling asap & lift the stress I feel under at the moment. Thaks in advance x
It may help the advisor if you have a break down ready, some of it they may include on your standard expenditure and other bits they may put into other adult expenses.0 -

One last thing the account i currently use has an overdraft which i want to include, but i stopped paying 2 of my other card since 2 months ago and this account has been in use thus the interest charge has been taken since 2 months ago plus the 2 payments to littlewoods. Account is up to date in terms of payment minus the actual overdraft.
Does this mean preffential treatment?
So for this to be included do i need to stop using the account and wait for it to be closed or should i just stop using the account and add it DRO, also either way would they ask for statements?
Preferential treatment is only if you have deliberately gone out of your way to make payments. It gets complicated if you have not had advice yet (not on here, but from CAB, NDL, CCCS etc) when you make payments as the argument is how are you supposed to know about preferential payments and what they are...0
