Thanks again Scarlet :A I can't see anyone at our CAB as they are running a restricted service & I've only dealt with the CCCS over the phone, I'm unsure whether or not they have a drop in centre or not. But you are absolutely right, it won't get better until I suck it up & admit what I've done. I thought about calling the NDL, but I wonder if starting from scratch with another service will lengthen the process :(
Did you print out your own credit report? I was just wondering which part of it you actually have to provide, is it the part with all your creditors on expanded to show your payment history?
Also do your bank statements & credit report all get sent with the DRO form or are they just for your advisor to confirm proof of income etc? Will I need a few photocopies, ie: ! for DRO office, 1 for the advisors records?
How long has it taken you to reach this point? Please let me know the outcome of your DRO & I'll keep all my fingers & toes crossed for you on Wednesday.
Thanks so much yet again, it's a comfort to be able to speak to someone going through the same issues xxxx

CCCS work entirely over the phone, as do NDL, it makes things quicker and simpler apparently.

None of the info you send in gets sent to the Insolvency Service, it is simply used to do all the checks necessary to make sure that the DRO should be good for you. You will only need to send 1 copy of each sheet.

Thankyou so much for your help. Today's the day I make a start on dealing with this. I very much appreciate the advice both you & scarlet have offered me & I will come back when I've managed to speak to someone today.
I am a Leo...& as such I will defend my "pride" ferociously....you have been warned!
  • Well, how quick was that? I've just got off the phone to NDL & they're sending my DRO pack out today! I had no problems with any of my figures, in fact the advisor thought some of them were too low, including my travel & housekeeping! I've left them alone though as they are my honest & correct expenditure figures.
I feel alot better though, as you said scarlet, he was soooo lovely too me & really put me at ease.
If it's Ok with you lot :) I'll keep in touch with you, as I'm sure I'll have alot more questions I'll need answering in the near future. Once again a huge thankyou to all of you who have taken time out of your day to assist me, it really is greatly appreciated xxxx

  • Hi all,

I currently have a very low income and am struggling to maintain repayments on my various debts.

I have been accepted onto a university course, commencing in September but if I were to take the place, I have absolutely no idea how I would continue to repay my debts - my surplus income then would be even lower than it is now.

What I am wondering is whether being a student excludes you from taking out a DRO?

The DRO will not affect your future husbands credit file in any way shape or form. it will simply go on your credit report only.
With a joint mortgage, due it being on your credit report you may need to seek advice from an independent broker, but i have seen couples who have both gone bankrupt get a good mortgage within the 6 years through a broker

Ohhhh thats good to know, thanks for replying.:j

As long as you have a sustainable budget (as in not a deficit) there is nothing to stop a student doing a DRO

yep, i'l definately let you know...regarding the phonecalls, either unplug the phone when ur at home or put the answer machine on...try to keep busy and the time will soon pass...by the way i had my expenditure form come back from the CAB 2day and my adviser has actually put down £216 for housekeeping, and bare in mind i live alone....but she has the trigger figures so she must know what she's doing, hope this helps other people who are wondering what to put on their SOAs, i know i was...keep us updated broken spirit, and iff theres anything ur not sure about just ask...iff i dont know the answer there are plenty of experts on here to help you...:):):)
