I mentioned getting the new card because I am paying really high interest on a debt on an old card, i will just have to keep the debt on that card and include that on the DRO as I have held this card for well over a year.
I do not appreciate you insinuating that I am going to participate in fraud, I was simply asking for advice, I already have the debt and have done for many years, so it's not like I am going to obtain a new card, go on a mad spending spree then not pay it back. I would only be obtaining a new card to do a balance transfer of existing debt.
I am currently paying £626 a month a repaying my debt so i am trying my hardest to get it cleared but once my pay drops by almost 60% i am not going to be able to meet my repayments and am trying to plan for the future as i quite clearly have important things coming up.
My apologies.
You say you want to do a DRO when you go on maternity leave and also at the same time you say you want to balance transfer a card from one to the other to save a bit of interest and then include this debt in your DRO. However you try to make it look what you are doing is tantermount to fraud as you may not be getting any more credit but you are getting a card with a different company to save a bit of interest knowing you are going to include it in a DRO. You could argue that you were earning at the time of taking the card out, but you also would have known you are pregnant and would be taking maternity in a few months leaving you unable to pay.
I hope it dosen't but i reckon it will come back to bite you.0 -

ok thanks, i will not get the new card and just continue paying the higher interst on the old card. Now i am worried about the 2 cards i have recently had with Natwest. I did not know i was pregnant when i took them out but that doesn't mean they will believe me if i do apply for a DRO, I may just have to take out a DMP rather than a DRO. I am so worried and confused by all this.
Thanks for your help anyway.0 -
quick question needs an answer if possible . i have been sucessful in getting a dro . since then have been getting phone calls from catalogues saying they have not recieved anything from insolvency people. the insolvency have told me that they have sent two letters to them about my dro. are they playing games with me (catalogues i mean) and they really have recieved notification of my dro. what can i do i have quoted my dro to them 5 times now but still call me about payments. i did tell them that iam classing it as harassment now but they said until they get notification of the dro they will keep ringing me. is there a template letter i could send them?0

If you carry on as you are you will be eligable for a DRO as you said at the time of taking the cards out you did not know you were pregnant.
My only worry is that now you do know you are pregnant and you do take a new card out it will come back to bite you as you are doing this knowing your circumstances will soon change. at the time you did the other cards you didn't.
Another question.
When do you plan to do your DRO..? I take it when you go on maternity leave.
Will you go back to work within a year of taking maternity?. If so the DRO will become invalid if your wages mean you have over £50 a month left including the new expences for baby. Have you thought about this.?.0 -

I am only eligible for Maternity Allowance as I am a long term temp in my company, so it is unlikely I will have a job to go back to0 -

Ok well you need to factor that into your calculations (Until you know for sure your definately not going back). I can't see a problem you getting a DRO, just the fact you may go back to work during it could cause problems.0 -

well i don't know myself of any template letters, but that isn't to say there arn't. I am sure fat or immoral will be along later and can advise you on that. What i would say though is don't worry as you are under a DRO and they can threaten all they like but ultimately they can't do a thing.0 -

Is it part of the Shop Direct group? they often have problems assigning the DRO to the right debts (so they told my manager...)
Have you still got your approval letter that the Insolvency Service sent to you? If not, give the DRO Unit a ring and get them to post you a copy, if you do have it, make some photocopies and send them to the catalogue companies. If they ring you again quote your DRO number to them (it starts DRO...)
As Orville has correctly said, they cannot actually take further action, but it might innocently be that the DRO notifications have not hit the correct department.0 -

going back to work may not cause a problem. With a child your expenditure will most likely increase - more than CB and tax credits are paid normally...0 -

Agreed, i did say in one of my posts further up you have to factor the expenses for baby. I suppose it depends on how much she earns.0
