Debt Relief Orders (DRO) - Information & help thread

Im pretty sure that the first the IS see of an application is when it is submitted to them upon payment of the £90 fee.
I had a similar situation, originally scheduled to do a DRO with National Debt Line, but the waiting proved to much for me so switched to Baines and Ernst, as at the time they were a good queue jump! Never caused any problems for me
I am considering switching to baines and ernst, they dont charge a fee do they?, I think I imagined that!
How long did B&E take?0 -

The barcoded letter says:
This letter is to enable you to make a payment to The Insolvency Service in full or part payment of the £90.00 fee. This fee must be paid to the service BEFORE your application can be submitted. Your application will be cancelled if The Insolvency Service has not received the payment within 10 days of submission.
Glad it went well missnikkai!
I was referring to the time allowed, from when they send you the first letter, with the barcode on.
The CAB, told me that I have 6 months to pay the £90
Is this not correct?
Many Thanks

Hiya cd36uk,
Don't quote me on this (!) but from what I've read online, it appears, that B&E try to sway you towards a fee charging DMP..
However, if you just stick to your guns, and firmly state you want a DRO, and only a DRO, they are apparently ok, and do not charge anything more than the £90 fee.
Good Luck,

I was never sent any paperwork I sent all my details in, did everything at the CAB where my advisor submitted the DRO with me present to sign it, then she printed off the letter with the barcode to go pay the £90 straight away, it was approved the next day.
Looks like there's lots of different methods, quite confusing!
My previous post is all I know really, just typing what it says on my letter. I was only given it once the DRO had been sent, then paid to have it approved.2011 Wins: Recipe book
Big thanks to all comp posters x

I just called The Insolvency Helpline.
Very helpful!
Be careful. The Insolvency Helpline (http://www.insolvencyhelpline.co.uk/) is a bunch of IVA-pushing sharks.
I wouldn't trust anything they say
The telephone helpline of the Insolvency Service (http://www.insolvency.gov.uk/contactus/enquiryline.htm) is a different matter entirely.
A lot of people make that mistake0 -
K this is a bit convoluted, Is it possible for me to have a DRO and hubby a DMP ( he wont even consider bankruptcy and wont qualify for a DRO due to an old pension) and if so how would we do the SOA? Some debts are joint and will go all to him I guess, we are only on benefits except for about £20 a week he gets from a cycling session he runs for a disability charityHappy with any wins this year :A0

Thanks.
It was the second one down, the Insolvency Service enquiry number, I called.
They confirmed 100%, that I would not be showing preference, to one creditor over another, as long as a third party was paying it.0 -
Sim-me bugging you again. YOU WON'T be done for fraud. As I said before-DO NOT PAY OFF MONEYSHOP. I hate to go on but you're just putting yourself through additional stress you don't need. let it be written off by the DRO.
Why waste your girlfriends money? If you now owe her £500 SHE BECOMES A CREDITOR....it could make for some very awkward questions.
Think of it from the official receivers point of view-you have no money to pay debts & BY MAGIC moneyshop is paid off!
Please DON'T DO IT. You're doing SO WELL with everything else (unlike me!). Sorry to nag!0 -
