LCD/Plasma tv above radiator

I was planning to mount an lcd or Plasma tv on the wall but there will be a radiator underneath. Is it possible to do? Any precautions I need to take? Help most appreciated.
thanks

I could put some sort of heat isolator in the middle, but what sort I am not sure. So AliEnRik, ther is no technical solution then?
    thanks

  • Just an amatuer suggestion but would adding a shelf above the radiator be a solution to redirecting the heat so that it didn't affect the screen too much?

EDIT: or using a radiator cover

You can put something inbetween them (Some wood should be fine). Id suggest using a thermometer and put it exactly where you want the tv to be to see how it heats up around that area.

Probably not. Who spends several hundred pounds on a piece of kit then hangs it above a radiator?

I bought my lcd a couple of years ago when it cost me a grand, not gonna put it above a radiator! I settled on rearranging the sitting room and buying an attractive stand.

Please think very carefully about mounting a flat screen on the wall.

They may look good there but watching them in that position is not ideal.

Ideally a screen should be at or below eye level from the position that you watch it in, which is usually seated. Watching TV is far more relaxing in that position rather that staring upwards.

Try looking at the space you plan to mount the screen for a while and you may see what I mean.

I think flat screens are better placed on a purpose designed stand that is about 0.5 metres high.

There's a few threads on AVforums about people putting Plasmas above fireplaces and in front of radiators. Personally I wouldn't, but people seem to have done it without problems. I'd reserch it very carefully before you do though. Depending on the layout of your room it may be better on a floor stand a 12-18" in front of the radiator.

As Avoriaz says the other issue with wall mounting is that it's not the ideal viewing position.

And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die
