Happy new diary Jamie. You sound like you are having fun decorating, hope you make it a house you are proud of. Take care0

Happy new year Jamie.
Glad you are feeling more settled. Good luck for 2009
Decorating is very calming, I love painting. We have the kids bedrooms to do this spring/summer. My daughter currently has a high built in bed, but at 14 she is too big. We need to build her a lower bed but it is quite a major job. So we are doing it at easter when she will be on holiday with her dad. Will have to clear the room totally as she is in the box room and there is not really room to swing a cat,:rotfl:.Pad, started 28.11.08 running total £3674.91:T

Beanie - all the best for 2009 for you too:)
PAP - how are things going for you on your challenge, must go find it and catch up!
Jen - my daughter has the smallest bedroom too, I think there is going to be a lot of planning involved when we come to get the furniture for her, as she is only four now, but as she gets older she will need a desk etc...
dND - I bet it looks a lot different from the last lot of photos I saw!:D
Tv licence went out this morning so I have adjusted signature accordingly. I am paying the higher rate at the moment, must dig out letter to see when it goes down.
Have a loaf to put in the BM in a mo. More cooking and baking to do throughout the day, need to decide what to make for kids lunchboxes next week when they go back to school!
Planning a NSD today, but DS3 is going out with his carer this morning for a few hours so depending on what they do it may end up a spend day....I wont be going anywhere to spend anything myself though!:j
My rent goes up from this week (by £2 per week) I have factored this into my new budget.
Better get on, have a good day everyone:TNovember NSD's - 70 -
Just had a lovely lunch. Pasta and pesto to use up leftover cream, salad and garlic bread, yummy trifle for pudding:D
There is leftover trifle so ds3 and dd can have that for pudding tonight. ds1&2 are at their dads for tea this evening.
Not sure what to do for tea yet, I dont really get hungry after a main meal at lunch time, so I may just make eggy bread for the younger two.
Loaf is almost ready to come out of BM:) I just love the smell!!!
Have been looking around online this morning for prices for new cooker and washing machine, I had budgeted to buy both this year, but I seem to have vastly overestimated the costs:T So I have had a rejig of budget and will not allocate the difference into savings, unless something else comes up!:)
Looking forward to a fairly quiet next couple of hours before DS3 comes back and DS1&2 go out. Might put my feet up and start one of the new books I got for xmas:)November NSD's - 70 -
Heya JD!
HUGE Happy New Year and happy new Diary!!!
Great to read about your plans for 2009. I think that this year is gonna be a good one, for so many of us on here. Everyone seems so focused and it is catching!
I hace slowly started on my DD's room. I have removed all the wallpaper so need to fill in the gaps and then sand the walls down and I was gonna out a coat or two or plain white paint up and then add the colour on top as the walls are not in the best condition and I thought that may help? I don't know much about decorating reallyand my folks live a bit of a way away, so will have to give it my best shot.
Enjoy the rest of your day!

hi donner....glad you found me:D
If the walls are not great, I buy a tub of filler (readymade coz im lazy:D), a cheap filler knife and medium grade sandpaper, go around filling in the holes, dents etc, let it dry and then sand, so yes you are right to do that. I find it makes a huge difference. Then I do all the cutting in, then paint one coat with a roller, until youve done as many coats as it needs (over colour I normally need 4 coats!!!) Sorry if im telling you stuff you already know!!
If you are painting a colour instead of just white/magnolia I wouldnt bother with painting white first, just start with the colour and do as many coats as you need.
Im sure it will look lovely when its finished. just put some music on and have fun!!:DNovember NSD's - 70 -
Hey Jamie, there are some fabby bargains to be had on washing machines and the like at the moment. When I bought my washer it cost me about £300 and yet I've seen a perfectly good one advertised on telly for £174!
By the way, I got a letter this morning saying my Child Benefit goes up from Monday! Did you get one? I thought we only got a pay rise in April.Wendy x0 -
Cat - I knew child benefit was going up in January this year but it had slipped my mind to put it on my spreadsheet so thank you for the reminder:)!!!!
There are loads of great deals about atm, i fully intend to take advantage:DNovember NSD's - 70 -
