Thanks SueUU for the advice
I'm in the process of ditching the booze as well so that shouldn't be a problem - done a prompt card of RATIONALISATION from the Allen Carr book just to remind me if the nicotine monster gets too cocky (the little git!!)
Felt a bit irritable this morning and everything seemed to be going wrong - but settled down a bit now. Not had a craving as yet - still glad to be free and long may it continue.

Morning all
Thought I'd give you an update seeing as you were all so helpful and supportive following my preliminary post.
Not had a fag since Friday night - managed to stop a day earlier than expected. Certainly not missing it, the thought of smoking makes me gag. However it does feel like I've had my little finger cut off - I can still function but things aren't quite the same.
Went for a few beers last night - a real milestone for me, where I've always fallen off the wagon in the past. Didn't even consider going outside, even with smokers present.
Having previously been the worlds greatest smoking advocate I get the feeling I'm going to be a nightmare anti-smoker when I break on through...

Very well done everyone
Don't worry too much Ameriarate ... you've obviously got a strong will to stop. You're not a complete idiot, you just had a "blip" and I'm glad you felt sick and dizzy ... a good reminder not to have another one:rolleyes:
I'm glad in a way I decided to stop tomorrow night ... we're having a boiler fitted today/tomorrow and the house looks like a bomb's hit it, it's over-run with men and I can't get to/find anything. These things always stress me out ... I can't stand mess and keep finding doors open that shouldn't be.
Roll on Wednesday ... I'm filled with a mixture of terror and excitement:eek:. It's so comforting to know that some of you are a few days ahead and, in some cases, are already finding it a little easier. KEEP IT UP AND BEAT THAT NICOTINE MONSTER ONCE AND FOR ALL

ameliarate that's why i'm off to doctors this afternoon. If she's reluctant to prescribe, I was gonna suggest to her that i could buy them off the net anyhow and would rather do it with medical supervision.
Thnx to all for support on here on via pm.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
Hi Everyone,
Was reading this thread on Friday and doing some other research about smoking, effects etc. I told myself i would get through the weekend and that my last fag would be on Sunday night. Sure enough i had my last fag last night at 23:00 and have not had one since. I know from past experience that the first couple of days are pretty easy and its after that u really gotta stay strong.
I only smoked about 12 a day but it still worked out at about 100 quid a month. I am 26 and I recently broke up with my partner of 4 years (after a nightmare 6 to 8 months!) and have had to move house to a different area and only seeing my son every other weekend has been hard on me ( and very stressful). I am settled now and am now looking to move on and generally improve my life, the first step being to give up smoking then to lose some weight.
I am rambling on cos i know in a few days i will probably be needing your support so its now nearly 14 hours without a fag and my taste and smell is improving already. Gonna call in at tescos on the way home to get some fruit and fruit juice. Bye for now!0 -

You guys are wonderful, there are too many pms to answer them all individually so I thank you all!!!! :j Went to visit GP today to be told that my brain scan was all clear :j I have been diagnosed with pernicious anaemia, which is the lesser of the evils that they were expecting. She has referred me to a smoking cessation clinic and is happy to prescribe champix when I am attending the clinic. So I feel happier already, even though i haven't stopped, but am one step in the right direction. With the support I am getting on these forums, I know when I get to that clinic I'm going to succeed!!!!4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0

Hi All,
Well I have now done 2 whole months with no cigs :T As most of you know I started on the Champix but as I kept forgetting to take them I stopped after 3 weeks and didn't got back to the Dr's. I wouldn't receommend this to anyone as I'm sure it's a 12 week course for a reason but it worked for me.
I've had quite a stressful week this past week. Apart from the usual stress of being a working Mum and trying to sort out school places, work, keep the house relatively tidy, someone stole my car numberplates so I had to report it to the police and go and get new ones. Now I'm just waiting to see if I start getting any speeding or congestion zone charges that don't belong to me. Then DH had an argument with our neighbour but one. This is on going but the neighbour started swearing in front of DS (because he was on his garden path) so DH has called the police to come and speak to him. Then on Friday DH was knocked off his motorbike. Thankfully he has more or less "walked away" from it but he has a broken elbow and badly cut knee and legs. BUT the long and short of it is, all of this happened and I didn't once think of or want a ciggie
It's hard at the beginning but you can all do it!

Hello and well done everyone!
I'm on my second day of medium strength patches. Despite being woken up at 3am I managed to get back to sleep by 4.30am which I think might be due to the Kalms. I definitely feel more relaxed.
My skin is a lot better too. I don't feel like an old hag anymore which is nice.
Have a good day all, the weather is definitely helping to lift my mood.0
