Well done Old Reekie. Just stay strong. The time will pass before you know it and cigarettes will become a distant memory. You may have the odd nag now and again, but by then the benefits will be so apparent, you will be able to brush them off with a smile in your heart.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

Well we are snowed in again & really not doing much yet it's okay this not smoking.
Smoked my last ciggie on Feb 14th. I do hope that I can keep this up - everyone is doing so well it's an encouragment. Just getting fed up with the Winter & need to be able to get outdoors & gardening but the weather not being kind.

Oh choille, I know how you feel! All the little green shoots are covered in snow, yet again and the snowdrops are staying tightly closed. We have not had as much snow as you but it is heading down here again, tomorrow. Difficult to get all the exercise that is being recomended, isn't itI am a non-smoker :j last cigarette 10th February 20100

Hi Oldreekie who no longer reeks,
I can't be bothered. It's bitter outside & I've just packed off OH to check the sheep & their water - it keeps freezing over.
If the Spring had Sprung it would be easier & I would be being more active but in this it's not exactly encouraging & I'm getting really bad tempered.
Still - it'll come will the better weather - but it's been a long Winter.0 -
I'd just like to say "WOOHOO!" because I can't believe I've made it four weeks and not even had a drag!
I'm glad to see that even the people who are finding it hard and who are not able to get out and about are still giving it their best - it just proves how determined you all are and you should be sooo proud of yourselves! I'm proud of you!

Day 10 for me, I can't believe it, I didn't honestly think I could do it. Today is not so good, I dreamt about fags last night and now I can't get them off my mind but, going to pick up my (used) new car soon and my daughter coming home from uni for the weekend so that will take my mind off them.
Good luck over the weekend everybody. We don't stop playing because we grow old; We grow old because we stop playing.0 -
jammy dodger, you are doing so well! Didn't you start off using gum?
thanks oldreeekie yes i bought gum from the chemist (when i was going out to buy cigarettes . best purchase i ever made:D )
i took chemist advice at took 2mg nicorette gum a box of 144  . I only used them for 2 days and a total of 8 pieces if i recall , mind you that box i bought and didnt use i have dished out to colleagues at work to help others stop .
(* I,ve kept a strip in a drawer at home if any "emergency " arose hopefully it wont ... )
It IS important that people using the gum follow instructions carefully , the nicotine as i understand is absorbed through your gum so chew very little and let it "sit" in your gum area . rather than chew chew madly like normal gum as this would give nasty taste and you end up swallowing nicotine not very nice .. I think it did help me though, as it helped make my decisssion to quit a firm one ...and i felt like i had something to fall back on againn "if" i needed it ...
i guess its finding a way that suits YOU to stop and DEFINATELY having the right mind set and determination ,
giving up only because i got fed up being a slave to cigarettes has helped me this time rather than feeling like a leper and feeling that i should give up ,
it has made a world of difference my possitive outlook and attitude , i visualise myself having a smoke and think how awful it would be ..
this thread has been an absolute lifeline for me and if i can help othres on their journey to be smoke free too then all the better ...
reading others comments / thoughts reports of being smoke free a year or more and still coming on here to inspire others helps such a lot
Kepe it up everyone you are doing so well :T
Roll on spring as you all say . Ive not seen grass here since Dec dying to exercise my lungs digging over the veg patch and Not getting so out of breath ....;)0 -
Hi everybody
Im back and raring to go. Ive had a bad time recently but am determined to get on the right path again.
I put a patch on about 4hrs ago so its early days. My health has really suffered recently and my dr has told me that a lot of my problems are due to smoking. In a previous attempt I was smoke free for approx 3 wks but, I had major anxiety problems. I am now on kalms and feel ready to quit again.
Good luck everybody

I do hope that at 7 + weeks, I am able to do that
Hi jojodod, good luck and hope today has been easier than you thought it would be. I am using the patches, inhalator and valarian tablets. I have a box of the lozenges and they do help, especially in the morning when I would have had a coffee and a cigarette.
Also, can recommend the Nicorette ActiveStop programme. It helps to keep me focused on all the reasons why I do not want to smoke.....though, today it told me that my fertility would improve now that I have stopped smoking....that would be a miracle :rotfl:I am a non-smoker :j last cigarette 10th February 20100
