Hi the sky does include the internet. We def have buildings/house insurance and the car insurance we pay in one go. This falls on the 2 months where we don't pay council tax and we go through quidco which pays most of this so we don't need to pay monthly for these things. Also we have £100 in our quidco saved to put towards these.
The reason we have money left over is because I am going back to work after maternity leave. This will be the first time in over a year we have money left over, this is why I want to use it carefully in order to help pay our debts off. So new year new start am going to try and save rather than spend!! LOL thanks x

    - Done some ironing
    - Sorted out money for my childminder next week
    - Changed 2 beds - 2 to go!
    - Sorted out bill for DH to pay and file when he gets in.
Am now off to pick lo's up from mums hopefully we will have some dinner their and they are paying for a takeaway tonight.
Am pleased with myself today as we normally get a takeaway on a fri but resisted and enjoyed a lovely pizza from the freezer - bargain!!

  • Hello!

Don't fear my red notes, my mum's a teacher and I think I picked up the "red pen gene" :D

According to the SOA, you have almost £500 per month spare. Does it feel like that? If not, start a spending diary and find out where your money goes. There are a couple of area where it looks like you should be spending more money, and I have highlighted them for you.

    Cheers

Re hair cuts and other treats. Contact your local FE college that has a hairdressing/beauty course. They are usually desperate for models (all ages, both sexes) the students are very closely supervised. Be prepared to stay there longer than you are used to. (They are learning after all). My local FE college charge £6 for c&b. £20 for colour etc. Massive saving when you consider salon prices. And a bit of a pamper as well:money:

On a money saving angle was chuffed as I went to ELC today for a bd pressie and couldn't find anything I liked. Had a rake through the christmas pressies and found DD had 2 of the same game!! This saved me £15 and DD didn't mind at all - bless her x

Well yesterday was a NSD. Had a lovely takeaway which mum and dad kindly paid for.
Today went to Asda. Went carefully though the fridge and made a mental note of what we were we having this week for teas and lunches. I am back at work this week (after 15 months maternity leave arrgghh) so that should save heating and prob cut down on popping to the shop.
At Asda I got the shopping I needed and 2 tops at 75% off for my baby cousins bd in march - bargain! All this came to £31.00 I think my lowest shop ever. We have plenty to keep us going all next week and the weekend. Will prob need milk for baby but have money put aside for that (she is on cows milk).
I may need to think about rebudgeting though as kids are back at school and therefore their clubs are back on £6 per week. Grandma has kindly said though she will pay £4 of this as part of their pocket money.
Been out for a lovely lunch at the pub today which mum and dad paid for bless them. They know we are saving money and they say they remember being skint and wishing someone would treat and help them. So they are glad to do the same for us.
On another MS note we have just opened an 8% childrens account to put any extras away once we have paid the cc cards. Any money in our £1.00 jar or overtime will go into this once we can afford it and will go towards paying the loans off. I think if the money is tucked away then we are less likely to try and crack into it he he.
Well must go the kids are quiet and you know what that means LOL x

Just a quick update today as I need to grab some lunch and pick little one up from the childminders! Am aiming for a NSD today. I walked passed the shop and didn't go in for my usual wispa and mag. Instead I have tidied the kitchen, emptied the dishwasher, loaded the car with stuff for work tomorrow, hoovered up and made a few phone calls. I still have the dreaded ironing to do. I may do this tonight when all kids in bed and watch my soaps while I get on. DH is working all saturday so their is a little more overtime to add to the pot. On a crap note CC bill came today and was more than I though it would be by about £300:confused:. Also me and mum swapped beds the other day she wanted me double and offered me her new king size as it was too big for her spare room. Well the bed looks fab but the mattress is awful I haven't slept in it well yet and it is doing DH back no good. We need a decent firm one really. So unfortuanately I am going to have to fork out for another one as we really need our sleep! I have seen some in Argos for about £200 will have a peep on quidco and see if they have any good deals. It's always something else isn't it. Bye for now x

Quick update before I tittle upstairs and hit the ironing mountain!! Today was another NSD yeah!. Borrowed a tin of beans from mum so I didn't have to go to the shop and wasn't tempted by anything else.
At work tomorrow and then playgroup so hopefully won't have chance to spend anything!

Just a quick update as I am in from work and off to get baby from mums soon. She said to get in and have a cuppa and lunch and half an hour to myself. Bless her!
Had a NSD so far but will have to go to shop for milk for baby. But I will not buy anything else I promise!
Was dead fed up about my cc last night we never seem to make headway with it. I need some oil too! I have lit the fire for now but will put the heating on later when the children get in from school. I can't have them coming home to a cold house!
Mum has invited us to tea tonight we normally go on a tuesday. It's great to have a night off from cooking!

I am really enjoying doing my diary. It is keeping me focused on what I am spending and helps to see it all written down. I have a few bits to do this pm
    - change DS bed
    - Hang out washing (inside otherwise it may freeze lol)
    - Make a tuna pasta bake for children's tea
    - Peel pots and veg and make a sausage casserole cause mum and dad are coming for tea tonight. I have also bought an apple strudel at £1 from Asda it has filled in packed lunches and will be plenty left for our puddings tonight with some cream.
I have spent some money today I bought philadelphia, 2 tomtatos and a paper. I managed not to buy anything I didn't need so was pleased!
At work again tomorrow so hopefully won't spend anything. I may have to go into town on sun as I need some work trousers and warmer tops. I will go through mums wardrobe first and take a look on ebay. But it is awful being cold isn't it. The other clothes I have aren't smart enough for work!
Will update tomorrow best crack on with my jobs!

Well after all my saving and no spending I nearly got done over today. I went to the shop and bought bananas and milk and handed over £10. I got £1.45 change. I said look I am not being funny but there is no way narnies and milk is £8 odd! Luckily she said oh yeah - no apology. Still she is always a sour faced old bat LOL!
Apart from a visit to the shop I didn't spend anything else today. I think I will be in my overdraft by £50 this month. But on the 30th will get my first pay in about 7 months yey!
I have ordered some oil today. I am able to pay for this with my family allowance as I have managed to cut back on food shopping so much! As from next month will save a little for this each month. Am hoping it is a good summer then we won't need the heating on.
I have sorted and photographed a few more bits today for ebay but haven't quite got round to putting them on yet. I will try and do this tomorrow night. I have sorted out a few bigger bits to pop away for when we have some good carbooting weather. having said that I always find it so hard to not look and instead focus on selling!
