Hi all, I had my first sax lesson on Wednesday, the guy (Phil) was great
he swapped the reed for a higher strength one (the sax came with a 1 1/2 strength, and I need a 2 1/2) and now it's a lot easier (but not quite easy!) and I'm making steady progress thru the book. I've got another lesson booked in for Thursday and I want to get the first 4 notes comfortable by then so I'm playing about an hour each day
The sax came with a box of 10 spare reeds, as these aren't the right strength for me I've stuck them on ebay, not sure how well they'll do thou.
The running is going really well, I've just come in from running 5.33 miles around Saltram park. It's good to get practice there as part of the half marathon course runs thru it. It's the second time I've ran that particular route and I managed to shave a couple of minutes off my time.
I'm going to have an easy jog tomorrow, rest day on Tues, then Wed I'm attempting the longest distance yet, 7.13 miles, which will be twice round Burrator Reservoir. Looking forward to it

I bought the sax as part of an 'Ultimate starter pack' with lots of free extras, I've seen a similar pack of 10 reeds going for about £8 on ebay so I'm happy to just sell them as they were basically free. (Also the sax came from Belfast so I'd have to ship them back there to swap!!)
I don't really need 10 anyway! I can only use one at a time and I think they last a while.
I've had no bids yet, but fingers crossed

They went for £6.07 in the end
So I bought myself some new ones in the right strength
Friday 13th was bad for C, her car window got smashed by jobs, they stole the sat nav charger lead & cradle (sat nav was in the house) and a cloth. Then dumped the lead & cradle underneath the van next to her carthey also took the petrol caps off two other cars.
Only thing they took off with was the cloth!!
Landlord has just been on phone, he's finally sorting the bathroom!! He's going to tile the whole back wall, and told me he's decided to put in a new suite too!! Bath, sink and toilet
Work starts tomorrow, and hopefully won't last too long, can't use it til it's finished.
Luckily work is round the corner so I can use their loo, and my granma lives down the road so we can shower there.Debt Free as of 17/01/2009 Turtle Power!!

Woops, about time for an update I think!!
Bathroom is almost finished, the two builders finished installing the new suite and all the tiling in 4 days, luckily work is around the corner so I could pop in for the toilet!!
Landlord came round yesterday and started the painting, he was supposed to be round today for the 2nd coat, but hasn't appeared yet (I'm in work in an hour!!) (Edit: he just came as I was typing this!)
Then there is just the new lino to go down, much better than the old carpet (who has carpet in a bathroom?!)
Saxophone lessons are going well, I'm practicing a rock piece at the moment and I love it
My step-dad is down tonight to see his brand new grandson (did I say I'm an auntie?) and is coming round to see me tomorrow. He used to play the sax years ago so I'm hoping he'll play me a tune
Yes I'm an auntiemy step-sister gave birth to my first nephew on 3rd March. He was 7 lbs
I went round to see him the other week and he was very cute (and loud, he didn't stop screaming the entire time I was holding him :rotfl:)
Wedding news: All the wedding invites have been sent out, the menu choices have been coming in thick and fast. Most of the evening do invites have been sent out, just need a couple of postcodes then the rest can go.
My dress is sorted, I've got my shoes and the dress is being altered. C has found the dress she wants, but is waiting for her size to come into stock
We just have the flowers and cake to sort then we're pretty much there.
The_Dragon wrote: »Grr to the yobs - I hope C gets her car sorted out soon (and I am guessing no one saw anything *sigh*), I hope the bathroom gets done quickly!the police have posted 'were you a witness' posters thru all the doors in the street, but as most people would have been in bed at that time, I'm not confident in them finding any one.
C was worried that someone would smash it again on April fools day, it was smashed on friday 13th so she reckons they would have pranked her again. But car is fine.
