if the legs are wide enough jeans should be fine for puffin bags as the sides are already french seamed you could do the bottom seam on the outside and then zigzag it and just do a draw string around the top. the finished side needed to be 12inch square (ish) from memory.

Afternnon everyone, hope you are all well today.
Feeling a little virtuous today. I went into Wilkinsons this morning and DIDN'T buy any wool! They have the furry and fluffy yarns half price at 50p now, except the one that is best for hedgehogs, drat. (I already have over 40 balls I bought last time they were on offer)

I finally finished my first tea cosy vent hat and it looks very odd, but I'm sure it'll be used somewhere. I've tried and tried to do the ten minute crochet hat, but I must be doing something wrong because it took me over an hour anad it still was only half the size of the picture on the pattern. My rows look just like the pattern but are only half the size. Ah well, I'll stick to knitting for now and maybe have another go sometime else.

Hi pol, just looked at the pattern & gave it a go, using dk and 4mm hook took me 20mins and I finished up with a "small" hat about 4"wide x 3" high. (I have knitted one smaller which was classed as tiny). Checked it against the pic & the difference is obviously the wool, - pattern states "worsted" which equates to Aran, this would affect my tension as well so obviously I'd end up with a larger hat.

Don't despair. What did you use? If you increase your hook size you'll get a looser tension.

Thanks Pam, I just happen to have some aran so I'm going to give it a try. I was using a 4.5mm hook with DK so I'll try with 5.5mm. I am a tight knitter and crocheter so I need to loosen up a bit .
I've only ever crocheted one thing before apart from squares, and that was a hat I sent to Shezmit. She didn't say it was no good, but it was really tiny.
So I think I'll have another go later.

thanks

Afternoon all,
Been sorting all my odds and ends of wool out, and now have a bag of smallish balls, the smaller of which I am going to use for nipples on the boobs and to knit some IS hats when the time is closer.

I have done a couple of boobs Shelley and have another one on the needles, I will carry on with them until I have a nice little pile to send you, hope they are ok unstuffed??? expect some "interesting" colour combinations :D;)

Shaz - depending what type of wool your Mum is using, you could make hats, bags or I once saw a round bath mat and it looked really good.

pol - ooo well done you for resisting the call of the wool :rotfl:

Jean - thanks for updating us on our illustrious leader :T

well I am off into the lounge to get another boob done
Will pop back after dinner to see if Kathy has managed to report in

Lol, I'm sure you'd get some funny looks and quite a few sniggers if you took a boob with you!

I'm still working on mum's wrap, I've decided not to rip it back but to get on with it, just persevere. It's annoying me though, as I wanted to get on with the little bits I actually enjoy doing!! You've all been very busy in here while I've been putting my feet up lol.

Shelley, pm on it's way to you.
