    This is true.

I guess I am just obsessed with phones.

    I don't have any kids.

Just Care Bears who I pretend can talk.

  • I think this is a brilliant idea. I dont have children myself but I do help run Brownies. In the summer parents often let their children walk part way to brownies with there other brownie friends so they are in a group. In this instance I think one of these phones would be a good idea. I don't think anyone on here is promoting that really young children have a phone or play out in the road. They are just saying about it and how useful it is. Brownies are aged between 7 and 10 and I do think that is too young for a proper mobile but not this type. Also I dont think a teddy is too young for this age range. Sorry didn't want to start a discussion on this just wanted to say its a good idea.

Section 1.3 and 1.3a is worth a read for starters. You must keep phone in good working order during period of contract. They can ask for it back at end of contract. If you dont return it in good working order they can charge for it.Or if its not working when you return it they can charge to repair it.
this made me laugh they aiming these at kids who sling things down run over things on there bikes lol and they want it back in perfect condition ha ha ha who they kidding

If I had a child that is too young to have a mobile phone and felt I needed one of these to keep track of them, then it would be time to seriously look at my suitability of being a parent at all. Still i'm sure they will be handy for slobs
Try being a little more positive on these boards!!.

  • I've just bought our 2 children mobile phones so they can actually have a bit more freedom, and I can contact them or they can contact us. They can let us know when they've arrived somewhere and when they're leaving, so I know when to expect them home. They're 10 and 7, and I don't actually think a mobile is suitable for a child of 7 but it gives us peace of mind, so yes, I think these are a fantastic idea, and had I known about them before xmas, he'd hav gotten one of these instead

I just don't get this I'm afraid, if the phone is free and you only pay for calls then what are they getting out of it? Even their normal subscription charge to the tracker service is waived saving another £39.95...

It does say that 'Free mobile phone deals are common place on the high street this is no different' - except for the fact I haven't seen a free PAYG phone before, only contract, and they usually have line rental fee's

I'm sorry if I'm sounding cynical, I'm not and I think the idea sounds great but I just can't see why they would provide this phone free off charge to people??

If you have a 24 month contract with them on PAYG and you don't ever use it are you liable?? Sorry, I just don't get it.... (but will probably order one!)

EDIT: I have just spotted the following report on Ch4 which is interesting but still doesn't answer my question about why they are offering it free??

Well I ordered one of these at the beginning of December hoping it would come through in time for my DD to have at Christmas but it never arrived.

I got a little card just days before Christmas saying they were struggeling to meet demand.

I still have not received this teddyphone and at this rate she may be to old for it when it arrives,LOL.

I want one for my daughter as her friend lives over a very busy road and she likes to play with her, her mother is a trusted friend. I would rather her be able to give me a quick ring so that I can help her cross the road and not take the chance of her coming home early and being involved in an accident.

I think it would be very handy if I ever get it.

In true MSEing saving style IMHO it would be much cheaper to get her to use your trusted friend's landline. Even if you have to supply her with a bundle of 10ps it will work out cheaper than a call with a Teddyphone.

Or better still if they are close by, buy a cheap pair of "walkie talkies" from Argos, also very useful for days out round themeparks etc.

Good Idea and if it doesn't turn up I will go that way, but it is quite cute.
