We have always looked at Which magazine when buying electrical goods, which was always kept at our local library.
Now the vacuum cleaner is in need of replacement and we find the library no longer stocks Which.
Does anybody know if there was a test done recently and which came out as best, or at least top few.
We think the bagless are the best
Many thanks !

My Cat and Dog Cylinder knocks spots of my old Dyson. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Just been to stay with my mum for a week and was very, very impressed with her Dyson. Sorry, I didn't make a note of the precise model, but it wasn't the "ball" one. Amazing suction - and I have a Springer that sheds hair all over the place!
You can also have cylinder-style functions, as there's a removable handle so you can use the attachments.
Impressed enough to consider buying one myself!
Will try and find out the model, but I would guess it's two years old.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -
Just taken the tree down etc and had a right good clean through. Unfortunatley our Hoover Purepower has once again fallen to bits and is useless. Must be the third one we have had in 5 years.
Now pondering whether to go for a Dyson because of the 5 year warranty.0 -
We had a Dyson and hated it. It was unreliable and although it worked well at first we seemed to spend ages cleaning the filters to try and keep it working.
We've got a cheap and nasty vacuum at the moment as we want to get the Miele upright and it wasn't vailabel when the motor in the Dyson burnt out. The Miele cylinder vacuums are very highly regarded so hopefully the upright one is OK too.
EDIT: Just to add there wasn't a 5 year warranty when we had a Dyson and we had to buy a couple of parts which made it even more expensive. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
Just a word of caution if it is your first upright.
We bought one about a week before putting laminate floors down in place of carpets. IMHO, uprights are rubbish on hard floors as the roller brushes just skite all the dirt across the floor. I can't wait until it breaks so I can go back to a cylinder cleaner again.
I wish I had known before I bought it.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D

I got a Miele Cat and Dog last year when I got my 3rd hairy pet and wouldn't swap it for anything..having said which I keep my Dyson DC01 - the original, 12 years old and never gone wrong - upstairs to save me having to heave a vac up and down. The animals aren't allowed upstairs and the Dyson still does exactly what it says on the tin.
Btw I haven't had to use it but I've heard from various sources that the service centre for Dyson will repair the older ones for free...bonus!0 -

Please can somebody recommend a new vacuum. We prefer an upright and have carpet upstairs and solid oak flooring downstairs. No pets.

See my previous post re the Miele S7, It has an independent motor on the brush so you can turn it off when using on solid floors. That gum you like is coming back in style.0
