I bought myself an adjust-a-slice from Lakeland here and even my Mum whose famous for her doorsteps can get a even slice out with it.
The only problem is my OH likes thicker bread than I do so we have to keep adjusting it, at least it only takes a moment0 -
:rotfl: I don't make my own yet but I use an electric knife I got for Christmas now, was well known for disaster bread and meat cutting, think was about £6 in Argos. One day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
We have the adjust-a-slice knife from Lakeland too and it works a treat....it is not of more importance than daily life, which I have an enduring wish to make as useful and beautiful as possible.

I cannot slice bread evenly for love or money - have an OH who can but I am waiting on the Kenwood slicer being delivered next week - even bought a ham to cook to use it too. We like roasts so it will be used for that one tooSaving in my terramundi pot £2, £1 and 50p just for me! :j0

now I'm confused ....do I get a kenwood slicer or a Lakeland adjustable knifeWe don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0

My Mum had the slicer from Lakeland and loved it, sadly when she died we gave it away to my Auntie. Wish I'd kept it now, but I thought it was only for meat !!! how silly do I feel now!
Thanks for all your replies. I have had better luck this morning, maybe I was just too impatient. :rolleyes2A penny saved is one you don't have to earn! :wave:0 -
vivw, I had the Lakeland one and didn't like it at all although I see others have had success with it. The good thing about buying at Lakeland is they give you your money back. I explained to the assistant I wasn't sure about it and she said "if you don't like it bring it back for a refund" so I did. I am swithering about the Kenwood Slicer as I see lots of people swear by it - however, I have seen one person say on this board that they don't like it and knowing my luck I'll be the second (but wont get my money back this time). Meanwhile, I'll continue doing my dough In the Panny and then ovenbake the bread in a much more manageable shape/size.0

I wait until my bread is completely cooled before attempting to slice it, otherwise it ends up a right mess.
I use a lakeland evenslice but I like the idea of a kenwood slicer. Bet ti takes up loads of room though!!!I like cooking with wine......sometimes I even put it in the food!0 -

And do you find you get even slices with it? I am thinking that it would be much cheaper than the slicer and also take up much less roomWe don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0 -
