If I want more than 4 slices out of a 2lb loaf I have to wait until its cool!!. I usually make my bread in an evening ready for the following day so its easy to slice. Its taken a good 6 months for me to perfect my tecnique though! I also have a great old fashion bread knife..tried other knifes but always go back to my trusty bread knife!.....I also have to keep dh away as he cannot cut a slice to save his life.JAN GC- £155.77 out of £200

I wait until the bread is cold - definately not overnight! I've never been able to cut warm bread.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

Electric slicer for me( Cookworks 29.99 from Argos).I get loads more slices out of a loaf, and I find it better for the packed lunch sandwiches.I can even do it when its still a bit warm.My husband could cut it well with a sharp bread knife, but he's a joiner by trade and used to doing lots of sawing LOL.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Hi there  I also find fresh bread turns to crumbs under my knife
I'd like an electric one, but haven't been able to bring myself to spend the money :rotfl:
There's an existing thread on bread knives, so I'll add this one to it.

Hi all
Was wondering if anyone can give me some inspiration? I make bread in my BM but find slicing it really tough! I have a neuro condition which makes my hands shake and effects my balance and i think that is why it is so difficult to get straight medium slices.
Does anyone have any tips or gadgets that can help cutting easier?

The Lakeland thing looks awkward but the reviews are good, the other one on Amazon looks easier to use but gets a poor write up.
I love HM bread but it's such a pain to slice it takes me forever.
I put it in the freezer for a while. so it's not frozen but not so soft, then use an electric knife.
I cut an inch into it on three sides to try and join the lines up to get a straight slice.
