I think you just adapt over time!! I always make the smallest sized loaf in my BM - I find it is easier to cut, and I cut free hand - the start of the loaf, is always easier than the end: which now I usually place cut side down and slice horizontally. When I'm really feeling like I can't possibly slice another slice - I make rolls!!!"A simple life freely chosen is a source of strength. Thanks everyone for your help and advice.
The whole 'slicing' thing was becoming such a problem that only last week I could be found in the local Tesco bread section staring in awe at Hovis' and Warburtons lovely slices. BH said that I should not cave in because there could be the possibility of no going back, lol. So I decided to turn to the wealth of experience at MSE!
I think that I will go with the Kenwood slicer, as it just seems the easiest option, and if it works as well for me it more than pay for itself for slicing bread and I'll have it handy to buy joints to slice for sandwich meat and stop buying the thin pre-sliced stuff!
Thriftlady - I have to agree about the size/shape of the loaves coming out of the BM, I think that is part of the difficulty (couldn't the make a BM with more normal sized pan??). As suggested somewhere, I think for those times that I need the BM to bake the loaf I'll try another setting besides 'basic' - possibly sandwich.
Mrsmcawber - I have seen those types of bread boxes, but they didn't seem like they would accomodate the loaf sizes that are coming out of my BM.
I know that doing just dough and then putting that into bread pans would solve a few problems, so I think I'll be doing more of that in future. Best of both worlds, the BM doing ALL the work and my Kenwood slicer to slice the extremely tall yet short loaves it produces or dough only in the BM, into bread pan(s) and possibly able to slice with a normal bread knife!0 -

Ummm.....seem to be a bit lost here, lol.
Having decided on the Kenwood slicer, could someone please direct me to where I can ask a question (or 10) about purchasing it through one of the cashback sites I've just joined, please? (Top Cashback,Quidco & Rpoints)

I am very often asking for advice on different matters so firstly I would like to say a BIG BIG Thank you to everyone who has guided me into my new os ways........
Secondly, I hope, I am now able to be of some help to one or two of you out there.
I have found the Mother of all bread knives........, and wanted to share with you all..... it is part of the TESCO homestuff range and is called Fusion, it is made by Richardson Sheffield.
Now it did cost £10.00 and I was very reluctant to buy it at first because of high price, but we have tried two different Knives already both of which are not great, This Knife says it STAYS SHARP FOREVER and it comes with a 15yr garuantee (also it is british made, in Sheffield)
I have to say this knife slices absolutely amazingly, I am so glad I have found it, and indeed if it does stay sharp forever it will have saved me a fortune in replacing old bread knives............
